Okay, I need some help. My brother and sister-in-law are "snowbirds". When we go in Nov. they are coming to spend a couple of days with us. They are planning on staying off site because they got a really good rate but I think they can probably stay on-site for the same rate if they use the Florida Resident Rate. The problem is...what kind of proof do they need to prove they are FL residents. They're driver's licenses are still NJ because they live here most of the year. Can they use a utility bill or something from where they live in FL? Thanks for any help.

Proof of Florida residency is required -- you must provide any one of the following:

Florida driver’s license

Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)

Florida voter’s registration card with corresponding picture ID

A college ID for a Florida college

Florida-based military ID

This is what it says on the Disney's website.

I would suggest they take a utility bill and get a FL ID card. They cost $3.

I don't know if they will just accept a utility bill at Disney because it still doesn't show who you are. If they showed a NJ driver license the CM might just think the bill was only put in their name to get the discount.

Thanks Shirley. Do you know where they would go to get this Fl ID card?

In Oregon, you get the ID card the same place you get a driver's license.

Yep, what Lisa said. FL license is only open Tuesday- Friday. Depending on where they live tell them to make appointment. It should take them less than 10 mins to get the card.

Also if they plan on going for any length of time to check out FL seasonal pass. Its about $210 good for 1 yr. They can go as much as they liked in that year except blackout dates. We love ours.

A Seasonal Pass entitles you to admission* to:
Magic Kingdom® Park, Epcot®, Disney-MGM Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
Except the following dates:
June 7, 2003 - August 14, 2003
December 20, 2003 - January 3, 2004
April 3, 2004 - April 15, 2004
June 12, 2004 - August 19, 2004
December 18, 2004 - January 1, 2005
*Except for activities/events separately priced.

In order to get the FL resident discount do ALL members of the party have to be FL residents or could say my inlaws purchase tickets/etc for us seeing as they live in FL even though we don't? Hope that made sense....

my mom purchased our seasonal passes at aaa because they are around $10 cheaper(and they did not ask to see anyone's id except hers) but when we went to redeem them at the parks we all had to show fl id except for my son

FL ID cards are $8 now. They can also get a Driver's License for FL (and keep their Jersey license) if they go to the motor vehicle licensing dept in FL with their address, birth certificate and NJ drivers license (they may want your social security card also.) These documents are needed for the FL ID card as well as the drivers license.

As for proof of residency, Disney will accept the following (from the official Disney site:)

Q. What are the Florida residency requirements?
A. To purchase an Annual Pass or take advantage of special offers, you must provide any one of the following:

Florida driver's license

Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address)

Current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID

Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID

A college ID for a Florida college

Florida based Military ID

Note that the official Disney policy does accept the Utility statement as long as you have a picture ID that corresponds to it. Hope that helps.

I quoted $3 because 4 months ago my daughter needed one and at the time it was $3. I didn't realize they went up. Sorry.

Actually I was just at Florida's DMV website and it said this:

Florida Identification Card

United States Citizen proof of identity and requirements.
Non-United States Citizen proof of identity and requirements.
Social Security number if issued.
Must be 12 years of age or older (No minimum age in Citrus, St. Johns or Monroe counties).
No test required.
An original identification card is $3.
To renew an identification card is $10.
A duplicate identification card is $10.

To get a Florida drivers license I had to surrender my PA license. So did the rest of the family so you can't have 2 licenses.

I thought that might be the case. I'm going to tell them to get the FL ID card. Do they definetly need and appt or can they just go down there. I assume its at Motor Vehicles (or whatever they call it in FL). Also, does anyone know what the FL Res rates are for the resorts in November? I can't get it from WDW because I don't know their zip code~! Thanks everyone for your help. My DB and DSIL are just to lazy to do this so I'm doing it for them.

Not exactly. It depends on if you are considered a FL resident for voting, etc. or a PA resident (or another state.) (I was just at the FL DMV with someone getting one of these last week) The pricing went up July 1st for the IDs. She went in to get the FL ID card but she ended up getting a FL license and kept her other license because the clerk asked if she was a resident of her home state or FL. My friend asked the difference and she said in the computer they needed to know for voting, etc. If she was remaining a resident of her home state she could keep her home license in addition to the FL license. So now she has both. Again, this was just done last week.

My sons both got their FL IDs 4 weeks ago and it was still $3.

I don't think it has been changed. From the website it says it is $3:
http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us/ddl/geninfo.html

Florida Identification Card

* United States Citizen proof of identity and requirements.
* Non-United States Citizen proof of identity and requirements.
* Social Security number if issued.
* Must be 12 years of age or older (No minimum age in Citrus, St. Johns or Monroe counties).
* No test required.
* An original identification card is $3.
* To renew an identification card is $10.
* A duplicate identification card is $10.

Edited to add: I see that the previous post said they just went up.

And yes, you can get a FL only drivers license and keep your old state license.

Part-time Resident

* Drivers who hold a Class D or E license and are part-time residents may elect to retain their valid out-of-state license and receive a Florida license which states "Valid in Florida Only."

Florida residents rates aren't out for November yet - they're usually a little better than the AP discount. In May I used a Disney Visa Florida Residents rate that was even better!

It depends on which DMV you go to. If you go to a DMV it's $3. if you go to DMV Services at a county tax collectors office it's $8.

You can get a license valid only in the state of FL without surrendering your DL for your primary residence. You can NOT do this if you have a CDL--Federal Law prohibits CDL holders from having a license in more than one jurisdiction at a time.

I would suggest an appt. When I took DD18 to get hers, we didn't have an appt and had to wait about 90mins. But I live in Ft Lauderdale so there's more people. FL resident rates are only available til 8/28 at this time. Lots of us FL residents are waiting for the new codes.

My RI License was suspended by Ri after I got a Fl ONLY DL and RI did not tell me . So I had to pay to get my RI license reinstated and surrender my Fl License and go back to the DMV in Fl to ge just an ID card. Check with your state to find out if you can have 2 licenses. More often than not you cannot because some states do not have reciprocaty with other states as far as driving conviction IE. DUI ,

I also would suggest an appt. Our local offices are very crowded and you could be waiting for hours.
