WE just got back from our first trip at DVC members!! What a joy to stay in a one bedroom!! BWV soo.... nice compared to a regular room. Anyway--just was dreaming of my next vacation and thought since I get my new allotment of points in Dec, a quick 4 nite stay in Dec would be a nice treat before the holidays. Boy --was I in for a surprise!! No availability anywhere!! ( Please don't laugh- I am still brand new at this!!) I didn't have anyproblems with my may reservation and it was only 45 days a head. I guess Early December is a big DVC time???
I could get anything I wanted the third week but thats just too close to christmas for me ( guess that's why there was availability) ANYWAY-- Did get onthe wait list for Dec 7-11. Any one have any opinions if I should get this ?? or on the Subject of earlly December at all?? Again just a new gal trying to figure this all out and learn the In's and Out's of the whole thing.

Thank you for any input!!

No availability, even at OKW? The first two weeks of December are very popular for DVC due to low points, plus the Christmas decorations are up at the resorts.

Good luck with your wait list! We'll be at BWV Dec. 7-13; maybe we'll see you there!

The first two weeks of December and anytime during the Food and Wine Festival are very popular.....these are actually the only times we ever go.

I wonder if its so popular because of the decorations, weather and low points, or the off chance of meeting me?????

I've stayed at BWV the past 3 early Decembers and have Dec 6 to 12 booked this year. I always call right at the 11 month mark in January since it is my home resort. I do it day by day because I want standard view, which is only 20% of the rooms.

It's a great time to go! The decorations and activities are so beautiful! Plus it's the lowest point time! The only bad thing is the weather is iffy. We had perfect weather in 2001 - low 80's, no rain. 2000 was cold (low 60's for highs) and 2002 was rainy.

Thanks for the reply's!! This is how I learn I guess!! From now on i'll book at 11 months and for this year just hope for the best!

We had the same problem at 7 months out. I wasn't planning on going in December until we did an add on.

I tried for Dec. 14 and not a problem at VWL, so I took it. points were only a few more each night compared to early December - nothing major.

Oh my gosh...will you actually be there when I'm there? Oh please, please, please say it's true! Do you think there will be a long line to "meet and greet" you? Maybe I can get a Fastpass and bypass the line altogether! :p

We bought VWL in April and the day I put a deposit down I made the reservations for Dec. 8th to the 19th. We have been going to WDW in the beginning of Dec. for the past six years. We love it .

Good luck with your reservations. Maybe we'll see you there.

Hey don't lose hope we had a 1bdrm for nov 29- dec 6th this year and went on the wait list about 3 weeks ago for a 2bdrm at OKW and yesterday got all our days! So we cancelled the 1bdrm - Never thought we would get it but cancellations happen all the time! GOOD LUCK!:D

Don't forget, the annual meetings occur in early December also.

I always call at the 11-month mark for early December reservations.

I have been every year in December since 92 - and I am not going this year !!! I am trying to change - but I already miss it.

at the MK MVMCP is worth the price - plus all the Christmas decorations - see if you can be there for the lighting of the tree.

at Epcot - Candlelight Procession and Christmas around the world - also their lighting

at MGM - the light show - although someone say that MGM won't have their Christmas lights this year because of the closing of the backlot????

all the resorts are decorated by especially the WL/VWL and GF - the BC/YC and BW are pretty nice too - OKW and Polyn are understated but still lovely - at OKW the members decorate so drive through the resorts to look at their Christmas trees.

DD also has decorations - every place you look is Christmas -

WDW is lovely, points are low, crowds at the parks are low - the weather can be if - but who cares you are at WDW.

the first two weeks of December are my favorite time to be at WDW and I am not by any means the only DVC member who loves it then.

I called at 11 months and got a 1 bedroom at the BWV. Then only a week later my DH invited his DB and I called back for a 2-bedroom and no luck. I"m waitlisted for a 2 bedroom (sv) since a week after the 11 month window for the first week in December. 3 nights have come through and I'm still waiting on 2.

I know how you feel!

I cancelled a 1BR at OKW yesterday for the week after Thanksgiving, so you never know....the waitlist might just work for you!

This December will be our third "early December" trip with DVC. We're hoping that the saying "third times a charm" is true. We ONLY go this time of the year to try to bump into Richyams. ;) ;)

come to think of it. we just cancelled Nov 30-Dec 4 at VWL because we're doing the cruise first. So there's another cancellation.

Yup, me too-- I cancelled our Dec. 6-11 trip to BCV about 3 weeks ago.

Got the news our first baby is coming in Dec. so we had to change the travel plans! Get on the waitlist--because you just never know who is going to cancel.

We are currently waitlisted for a studio at BCV or BWV for Oct. 18-24th. Keeping our fingers crossed but I called yesterday and reserved an OKW studio just in case the waitlist doesn't come through.

Here's hoping for you...
