Calling all end of April/beginning of May travelers!!! :cool1:

Can anyone tell me what it is like in Disney during this time? We usually go in the fall and LOVE it! We went last May (right after Memorial Day and it POURED every day!)

So what are the crowd levels like? How's the weather? (No rain, I hope!)

Considering a mini-trip the end of May. Already have a business trip and the airfare is only $20 more to head into Orlando at the end of it. With an AP, I'd only have to pay for the hotel. I don't have the money, but could stay like 2 nights. Should I go for it? :cheer2:

All advice and comments are very much appreciated!!! :goodvibes :teeth:

In 2004 & 2005 we went for 8 days...starting at the end of April & going into May. We loved it. We never had one full day of rain on either trip. In 2004 it rained one afternoon. In 2005, it was raining the first evening & that was it for the next 8 days.

2005 was a little cooler. For some of the evenings, after dark, we needed long pants & light jackets.

We did notice that 2005 seemed to be quite a bit more crowded than 2004.

We are going back again in 2006 but waiting until the 2nd week of May this time.

Have a great time!

The weather is fine... 80's during the day and maybe jackets at night. We may have had two days that it rained... DD 2 needed (her words) to jump in every puddle that she came across while at the studios.

The 2005 crowd levels for end of April/beginning of May were not typical due to late spring breaks for NE school and the 50th celebration kickoff.

Middle of May is very nice--Flower and Garden Festival is taking place at Epcot and the park is always just beautiful. I love this time of year. Not overcrowded at all.

Last trip we went early May and had amazing weather, manageable crowds, and a perfect trip! We are hoping for the same luck when we go back this May!
Cross your fingers!

We're also going the first week of May this year and hoping for nice weather. Usually we go the end of May, which is a little too hot for me. Last year I took Mom the second week of May, and although it seemed hot, I realized that Mom's idea of when to get up and go to the theme parks was later than mine. One day we entered MK at 11:30am, the time I'd be leaving. So maybe that's why it seemed so hot. The crowds seemed kind of bad to me, but I'm not used to trying to get on a ride at 2:00 in the afternoon, I'm usually a morning/evening park person. Hopefully, this year, DH and my schedule will mean not as hot and not as crowded.

We went the last week in April/first week in May in 2004. Weather was great almost all week. One day seemed to be a little rainy in the mid morning (heavy mist mostly) and only one afternoon was actually rain. It was very warm and humid though.

I didn't find the crowds to be that bad. Headliners and such did have longer waits, but mostly we were able to get to see and do almost everything we planned to with little wait times.

I would definately go back during this time of year.

going at the same time....hoping for good weather.....never been there at that time of year....always, Oct,/ Nov,/ Dec, June or August.....hoping, hoping, that wishes really do come true......can't tell you the wish or it won't come true....but I have a feeling you're wishing the same!

What a great thread for me!! We decided to arrive in WDW 4/23/06 for a week----hoping that all the Spring Breakers will be gone by then!!

we went this past year the 2nd week of may (arrived on the 12th? something like that) and it could not have been more perfect!!! The weather was amazing (didn't really rain once that I remember) - high 80's the entire time (not too hot) and the one thing I noticed is that there was hardly ANY humidity. The crowds were minimal (we stayed off property and made sure to avoid EMH) and I believe the only rides we got FP for out of all 4 parks were Soarin' and Mission: Space. We went once during the last week of May, and although the crowds were managable, the heat and humidity were near unbearable for us Buffalonians. So I was skeptical to go just 2 weeks earlier, but I was happy we did!! I would highly recommend going at this time. :goodvibes

I visited http://www.touringplans.com/BestDays.htm to check out the end of April. Right now, there are mostly 7's and 8's during the days I was thinking about going. Wondering if that will make it really crowded? :cool1:

Also, what are the hotel rates like during this time? I have an AP and am a AAA member. How much is the POP (or another value) usually during this time? :confused3

Any help? :goodvibes

We went this past MAy 3-10 the first couple of days were great but crowds were much larger after the Celebration started on the 5th even though I think the longest wait we had was Peter Pan 30 min. However we have small children so we did not try any thrill rides (splash mount, Space mount, Rock N Roller Coaster, ToT) we saw a lot of characters and had an awesome time!! Weather was OK some rain in the afternoons but we put on ponchos, and walked on to Dumbo, Aladdin, Buzz and a few others! It was great I wish we could afford to go back again this May before DD turns 3! ($)
