What is the best gift you have been given by one of your students for the holidays? I would like to get something for my son's daycare teachers that they would actually use or enjoy.
Any ideas? What were your favorites?
Thanks in advance.

A little potpourri bag for my car. Very simple, but not food. Most people give food (fattening food) and while I enjoyed it, I didn't need it.

I work in a pre-school in a school, so we tend to get gifts when the children leave to go into the main school, i tend to like the personal things and thought out ones last year 11 children's families put money together and got us each (3 of us) and massive flower arrangement and chocolates and 'sorry we are leaving card' thought that was very thoughtout...oh and a parent got me a tile saying 'the greatest things one can do for his heavenly father is to look after some of his other children'. i dont expect presents because it's my job at the end of the day, but the personal ones bring a smile to my face!

I don't expect gifts from parents or students ... but do appreciate anything that I receive!

My favorite gifts usually are Bath & Body Works type stuff. Doesn't have to be from Bath & Body Works -- just as long as it smells pretty! Last year, one mom put together a movie basket for me w/movie theatre kinds of candy and microwave popcorn. It didn't have movie passes -- she just wrote a note saying "Enjoy with your family while watching holiday movies at home!" It was so nice. Another mom gave me "instant" foods -- hot cocoa, soup, tea, granola bars, etc. which were great b/c I kept them in my desk and ate them on days when I forgot lunch or needed an extra snack. I love getting stickers (for students papers), notepaper pads (AC Moore has them for $1 ea.), etc. One mom gave me a pretty chinese food container filled with Hershey Kisses for my desk and another gave me M&M's in a pretty holiday jar. Mmmmm!!!!

Hope these suggestions help!

My preschool teaching days are behind me, but now my kid is in preschool. I ALWAYS give gifts. (to the aids too)

Today we are pulling out the Christmas tree dectorations. I have so ordaments from kids. The thing is I remember each and every kid every time I pull them out and remember wonder where they are now (many would be in HS or Jr high by now. :goodvibes )

The thing I liked the most at the time was know I was appreicated. :teeth:

I was a pre-school teacher and my favorite gifts were gift cards. I loved my gift card to the Gap, and one to any store in the mall. That's just my preference though.

Thanks for the ideas...there are some good suggestions.
Pls keep them coming. I know that there are a lot of teachers on the DIS.

Gift cards are always nice, but one of my favorite that I received last year was 3 pump bottles of liquid soap from bath and body works.

How about a popcorn bowl with a box of popcorn and popcorn spices. You could also include some candy or a gift card to blockbuster.

I had gotten cookie mix in a jar along with a wooden spoon and I liked it. It was an easy way to have a nice smelling kitchen and a yummy treat for the holidays.

I haven't taught pre-school for over 20 years, but back when I did we would get tree ornaments, soap, notepads, pens and pencils. Sometimes a family would make trays of cookies, snacks, fruits, cheese balls for the staff to share. We really liked most things that we got! It was sweet just to be remembered!!

My mom was a daycare teacher and always tells me to get gift certificates to the mall, a restuarant, a department store. You don't really know what taste the teacher may have so you are safe with a certificate.

Back when I did daycare, AGES ago, I received a coffee mug with the little girl's picture on it and it read, "Thanks for your tender-loving care". :cloud9:

First grade teacher here.
We teachers (at least most of us) love:
Gift cards (no matter how small) to:
bookstores
video stores
restaurants
Personally, I love the gift cards to Target & our local mall. :cool1:

If the teacher has been teaching for several years, then she has enough of:
candles
ornaments
picture frames
apple items
coffee mugs
Most of these items end up in my annual yard sale

These are exactly what I want to avoid.
Thanks!

Pre School teacher here, well know a Stay At Home Mom but when I was teaching My all time favorite present was a real soft set of Pj's I loved them Most of my parents knew I was a disney freak and often got little things here and there like Tshirts socks ornaments all disney themed.........Even a gift card that the whole class collected for it was avout 150.00. Giving gift cards or anything form bed Bath and Body works .......Maybe you can ask the aid/teacher to see what their likes and dislikes are....

Have fun!!!

One year I was given a Card with 4 movie money vouchers in which allowed me to go to the movies with my hubby.

a great useful gift which was much appreciated.

gift cards to a local restaurant is always nice. Doesn 't have to be a huge amount.. and having a few families/students go in together makes it easier.

To be honest--- a gift card!

I had too many boxes of chocolates, ornaments, candles, etc to count. One year a parent gave me a Target gift card and I was LOVING that!
