I'll start. I booked back in September. We're flying Airtran for the first time. For the two of us, 298.00 round trip each. Not too bad for April school vacation. How did you do?

4 of us are flying round trip from MHT for $860.00 Ummm oh goodness math... $215.00 each? We have never paid more than 155.00 each but I'm happy with this. I booked the day South West gave early ding opening for late April schedules. (October 14th maybe?)

I'm ready for it to be here! 30 minutes and I could have a family of 4 packed!

Have a great trip!

Well, I did not do as well as I would have liked. I told DH I would not pay more than $1000 for the 4 of us. Well it priced to $1056, so I booked. That is $264 per person. Still not awful. That is MHT to MCO 4/24 - 5/3.

PVD to Tampa - $1096 on SW 4/10 -4/17 for 5 of us - nonstop. Booked the first day SW flights were available.

Not too bad everyone! Anyone else?

Booked in January. Started watching prices in mid Dec. SWA PVD-MCO 4/19 for $107. Return 4/27 for $127. Both are non-stop!

It always pays if you can leave on an odd day of school vacation, you did great!

Just decided to go last night, got $104 coming and going, flying out of Logan. JB nonstop going down and US Airways coming home, one stop/no plane change. JB even had $84 n/s on Monday of our vacation week, but it was later in the day.

Now does anyone know how seat assignments work with US Air? Is it ok to get assignments at the airport, instead of purchasing at checkin time.

Now off to make a few ADR's.:goodvibes

Man, I was feeling pretty good about my deal, now I am jealous. LOL Just kidding. You people got some great deals for school vacation week. Good for you!!!!

For $600rt with luggage paid and seat assignments free, I gladly rented a car for less than $175 for the week. We probably would have rented a car anyway, even if we flew into MCO. I am thrilled with our rates and have flown Direct Air before with no problems at all.

What are your dates that you got JB so low?

Booked in December. Started watching prices in mid Nov. Switched flights in January to this deal...SWA PVD-MCO 4/22 for $107. Return 4/27 for $127. Both are non-stop!

We are in NH so our April vacation is a week later than Mass. We are flying down on a Monday, so that helps too, though there was a Sunday evening for $104 as well. I love the JB 6:00AM flight, arrives at 9:00 AM.:thumbsup2

I think it helps to add what days of the week you are traveling, and if it is the MA or NH school vacation week. Also, the flight times and number of stops will affect price. We are travelling April 16-24 (Friday-Saturday of MA school vacation week), on SW out of Manchester, nonstop both ways with desirable flight times. Leave Manchester at 11:55 am and leave Orlando at 11:40 am. Paid around $1800 for 4 tickets. Very expensive, no doubt, but still much less than comparable flights on the same days on Jetblue or Delta out of Boston. Now both of our flights are completely sold out, too.

April 12-16 JetBlue $99 each way per person= $120 round trip w/ tax.. (non stop both ways)
We love JetBlue  Love picking our seats & tvs...

We get into Orlando at 9:15am, and depart Orlando at 9:17pm!!
However, I had some credits so 1 ticket total was only $65 the other was $220.

Unless you are selecting a specific area (first few rows of plane in aisle or window) I don't think it will cost you extra money to get your seats now.

Well, it's like rubbing salt in my own, still-open wound, but I'll jump in: paid $1170 (OUCH, it hurts to type it!) for 3 of us on SWA, PVD-MCO, Sun. 4/18-Mon. 4/26. At least they're desirable times--Non-stop at 9:15 a.m. on the departure and non-stop again at 1:20 p.m. on the return.

I say "wound" because I bought the day SWA opened their flights, but being new to flying on a school vacation week, I had no idea what a mad-dash, every-man-for-himself experience it would be. (I felt like I was at some kind of virtual midnight madness sale and I was lying on the ground, trampled and stunned, at 12:01. :rotfl:)

As I'm at work and unfortunately busy, I tried to keep going back to the SWA screen to search for flights on various days all around the weekends of vacation week, but everytime I plugged in a search the prices just kept going up and up and up! I was literally watching flights being booked out from under me by the second.

I actually got so disgusted and frustrated, I said "Forget it, we're just not going then!" (My mature side emerging.) By the time my husband talked me off the ledge, I grudgingly bought the tickets around dinner time. Now I consider myself pretty travel-savvy, but I was so mad at myself for not realizing I had to JUMP on them the minute they came out, and I am still smarting. (Can you tell?)

But, by the following day, those same flights would've been $1,800 for all of us, and now they're just plain not available...

Just wait 'til next year. You can bet I will be perched at my keyboard, armor on, helmet on, shields up!

Hey thanks everyone! Anyone else want to chime in?

Coming back what date? I have not seen any of these prices. We could get good ones going but coming back is insane
