Yes I see from the posts there is at least three of us from the good old UK.

(Don't tell the Americans but I paid for this from pocket money at the weekend, as the dollar is a ''little' bit low at this time).

If people think this thread is long and a bit mad, you should see the 08/20/2005 thread, I have given up they are all MAD! This one is rather tame in comparison.
I gave up on that other thread!!! I do lurk to see if I can glean any important info for planning. WINNYIS is also booked on that cruise. Do you have early or late seating?

Good for you on the dollar working in your favor! I remember years ago when the dollar was stronger than the Mark and we benefited. Nice feeling, isn't it?

08/20/2005 Thread there is a lot of new information now being posted as they have asked on ship about next years entertainment. But it can get a bit MAD.

DOLLAR Last year I was changing at $1.37 to the £1, now its just off $2 to a pound, so its a big difference, I presume we will not be seeing to many Americans over here while its like that. Might change a bit if you raise interest rates again.

DINNER Early sitting, I have too young kids they will not last there are options but I would like a proper meal together, we had 6pm on the last cruise and booked for the next two.

Andrew, my DD is 7 now and will turn 9 on this cruise. We have always had late seating and am wondering how we will make out with early seating. How old are your children (I should probably know the answer to that but like you said, the other thread is MAD)? We too like to eat together as a family.

Welcome to the relative calm of the 8/19/06 cruise thread. Although we like to think we are a wild and crazy bunch! Shhh, don't spoil the image. Have you read this thread? We are a mob of smoothie drinking, ice stealing, indecent towel animals, black-cloud, kinda' cruisers who are all hoping to be Castaways. Can you keep up?

Darlene

SHHHH!!! Darlene don't give out all our secrets (or our horror stories).lol....

Carmen glad to see your up and about.. Back injuries are a painful thing. But do tell what you do in the bedroom after Christmas behind closed doors... no wait dont tell..lol  Did I read that you invited us for NEW YEARS at your house,,lol...

Andrew.. and family welcome to our " family".. glad to have you with us.

yes, TINA we are ready for snow...:umbrella: not liking it but ready. Linda how close to the lake are you? My in-laws( or out-laws) live on the lake on Lakeshore.
Terry sorry about the car situation.. good day to stay at home and talk online. I got an early Christmas gift today for my VAN.. a JVC stereo system. Its so cool. I can download pix to it for a screen saver.. to be honest ,, its a bit to much for me, but since I spend most of my time after after 3pm in my car driving for the kids... it will be nice..:moped:

Ok its off to watch APPRENTICE..

Doreen

Doreen - I am right off Rt. 11 in Central Square - about 6-7 miles past the lake. I am not ready for the snow - go away snow!!!

I am almost thru the previous posts (after quite a few late nights). I do want to join the weight loss challenge. I lost 30lbs two years ago on WW but have gained back 10lbs - most on the cruise last week. I really need to lose some weight before the cruise in March. Everyone I am going with is skinny. I hope all have a great night.

Linda

Thanks for the update, Terry! :cool1:

I really needed that.

DD is currently 9, (this week) and DS is 6, 7 at the end of the next cruise and still 7 on the 2006!

They were 7 and 5 on the last DCL cruise, and we tend to eat at the same times, early breakfast say 7am, lunch at noon and dinner at 6pm. Any later and they will eat out as much as they can at Plutos and scoops and then not eat the 'proper' food in the restaurants. If they stay up late they can have a little snack. With all of the activities they do get tied and will either fall asleep, be ratty, or very naughty at dinner, messing it all up.

Then the show is 8pm ish, they can either join us for that, or go to the kids club. I cannot see how I would have late dinner with them at their current age.

This thread is very calm and easy to read against the 08/20/2005 thread, have you seen the 428 pages 6,400 posts and 140,000 views?

Welcome Denise & Andrew & families!! I am going to go right away and add you guys to our list. Quick question for your Andrew are you coming with DW, DD 10 & DS 7? Sorry if I missed that you already posted this info.! We're so glad you joined us.

Terry - WOO HOO - We broke the 90 Week Mark!!!!!!

DENISE - It is so good to have you with us! And you already know some of the cruisers, how awesome. :cool1: WELCOME.

ANDREW - I am hoping that the change to early dining doesn't throw us off. We are so used to the late seating and seeing the shows before dinner. DD loves the shows! I hope she isn't too sleepy after eating to stay awake for them. Of course she will be a little older by this cruise.

We just started working on her book report "The Legend of the Candy Cane". It was a nice way to start the holiday season. For all of you who are decorated, I don't have a stitch of holiday cheer in my house yet. In fact, I still have a scarecrow on my front porch. Tell me...how long can I keep him there before it is obviously out of season? Maybe I can put a Santa hat on him and get away with that.

I HAVE just about finished my gift ordering. Most of Sandy's stuff is even wrapped. I'll never repeat the year I was a single mom and worked full-time and went to college nights and waited until Christmas Eve to wrap gifts. I took trash out to the garbage can and locked myself out of the house! All the gifts were strewn across the living room floor in varying stages of wrapping! My three little boys were sound asleep in their beds. I sat on my steps and said, "well, I guess Christmas isn't coming to our house this year." Then I saw a light on in the house across the field and decided it was time to introduce myself to the neighbors! They were doing the same thing I was and offered me a phone and a glass of wine. My poor brother got out of bed to bring me a spare key and when he dropped me off at my door told me not to take any more trash out. I got it all done just before the boys woke up for Christmas morning!

Better still...Steven called me from Iraq today!!!!!!!!!! The tears started as soon as I heard his voice, it has been so long since I heard it. He said he was afraid I thought he was calling to tell me he was injured but I hadn't even thought of that. Thank God he is ok. He had a 24 hour pass to get a hot meal, a shower and some sleep and he used some of it to call his mom. We talked for a very long time. His calling card kept running out of time and he kept adding more and we would keep talking. People in my office kept covering for me so I could keep talking, they were so nice. One woman even cried when she heard it was him. Please continue to keep him and his men in your thoughts and prayers. He will be back in the "city" tomorrow morning. I think I am more anxious now knowing what he has been doing. At least tonight he is sleeping on a cot with a hot meal in him.

With the changes to time zones, and also holiday from school days, the kids get more adaptable, we will ahve to change by five hours for Florida and Eight in 2005 for CL.

The main thing is to ensure they have breaks, a nap at mid day or rest time, also I think a lot of the shows have and afternoon performance now so they can go to that instead.

Thanks, Andrew. I forgot about the matinee showings. I think Dreams has a matinee, not sure about the other shows. That may be the way to go on this sailing. We'll see.

Hi Denise,
Welcome! It will be great to see you again. If we get a few more families, maybe this could be an 8/21/04 reunion cruise as well. :cheer2:
Sue

What a great holiday gift you got.. it must be so nice to her from your son. We get so excited to hear from a friends cousin... We hear from him about every month and email every week. but now he is doing convoys so its less and less.. God Bless your son..
Also, that was a great story you told about Christmas EVE. I did some similiar things for my kids when i was a single mom...and the carrots on the deck. Trying to make the reindeer prints in the snow. And of course they want to make a BIG SANDWICH for SANTA too and leave lots and lots of cookies....

Welcome new friends as well... time to go back to Lacrosse practice.. Had Volley ball practice at 730 am,,, Daniel had a Basketball game at 130pm.. Linda.. went to Central Square at 550(well Constantia) and now back to Ludden from 7-9.. ugggg.. I am so tired...
TERRY,, love the countdowns.... :grouphug: :Pinkbounc

Have a great night.
Doreen

DOREEN - I am exhausted just from reading your post!!!! Take care, girlfriend, and make sure you don't wear yourself out. Or is it too late for that advice?

My holiday cheer was definately multiplied by the opportunity to talk with my son. I can float on that cloud for some time to come. Hopefully he will be home sometime between Jan and Mar 2005. On that day you may have to tether me to the ground and I suggest you buy stock in Kleenex.

VOW RENEWAL
I'm so excited about this cruise. I mentioned to Stan that maybe we should renew our marriage vows on this cruise. I'd love to have you all there to share it with us. He said that vow renewals are usually done on your 25th anniversary. Personally, 25 years for us would be when I am 59 and he will be 72. I really don't want to wait that long! In 2006 we will be married 13 years (now you can do the math!) and I think that is long enough to renew vows. Anyone have a thought?

Does anyone know anyone who has done a vow renewal with DCL? It's just a thought right now but I sure would love to do it.

Darlene

Doreen: How are all of you feeling? Please take care of yourself! :sunny:

Darlene: I can't imagine how you must've felt to hear your DSs voice on the phone :) :) I am so glad that he was able to call you!!!
Last month Good Morning America had about 125 couples on their show and they all had vow renewals together and I remember MANY of the couples that they interviewed were married less than 10 years, and I remember one couple was married only a couple of years. I feel that you can do a vow renewal at *any* time you want to :groom: :bride: I think it would be GREAT to do a vow renewal on DCL!!! :)

Denise: WELCOME!!!!!!! :grouphug:

Hi Everyone!! Happy Monday (ugh)

Darlene - How fantastic about speaking with your son! I pray for him and all the servicemen/women for their safety and their swift return. Now about the vow renewal. I think it is a great idea!! You don't have to be married a certain number of years. I think you should do it because you want to and what a better way to celebrate Stan's return to good health and your love and appreciation for one another! Go for it! I looked into vow renewal on the 8/28 and even booked it then changed to REAS instead. I'm really sorry I didn't do it. Especially because I met so many of you great people and I know you all would have come and celebrate with us. The cost is $1000 and initally I couldn't justify the expense for just the little ol' four of us. Had I know all of you then (when I booked it) I would have kept the package! Disney only books two vow renewals each cruise so I'd put it on hold if I were you. I didn't pay anything to hold the space. The renewal is done in Rocking D Bar on Thursday. You don't get too much for your cool grand - flowers, cake, music, and coordinator but there are plenty of add-ons for additional $$$ as you might expect. Even for the dough I think it's totally, totally romantic!
