Well, I made it to work this morning and about 90 minutes into the work day, I slipped on some ice and twisted my right knee. This is the knee I had operated on last May. I went back to work after lunch, but the pain got so bad that I had to come home around 1:30. I'm trying to stay off of it as much as I can. I'm putting ice and heat on it, but it still hurts and is quite stiff. Oh the joys of working outside during the winter months.

Go Eagles!!!

Oh Andy

I am so sorry to hear you hurt yourself, take it easy my friend. This is what I hate most about this weather, it's not the snow so much as the ice, my mother who is not at all steady on her feet, tends to be stuck in her house when the snow and Ice comes as she is terrified of slipping.

Stay safe all, and keep that knee rested Andy until it's better. By the way Andy and Terry loved the pictures of your houses in the snow.

Sue

Andy: I am sorry to hear that you hurt yourself. Stay off your leg and go to the doctor if it doesn't get any better.

Lyn

Guess what, it's snowing here again!!! Like we didn't have enough already!!!

It's snowing again here too. We already have gotten another 2 inches on top of what we already had. I've had enough snow. I need a cruise!

Jennifer

We're supposed to get more snow on Wednesday and Thursday

School is closed again for my DSs, for tomorrow (Tuesday). Craig is working until 8:30pm and doesn't know that he has the day off tomorrow yet. He'll be happy. :teeth:

Lyn: I SO wish we'd be at the Wilderness Lodge at the same time. How much fun that would've been!!!!! If it wasn't for our anniversary, I'd change the dates! LOL I know you can't change yours because I'm assuming your trip is coinciding with your cruise, right?? Am I going to be there first, or you? Either way, we'll let the other one know how the WL CL was. I've heard a lot of good things about it. Supposedly the concierge CMs are very nice there. I just don't like that you can't guarantee a specific view when you book concierge, we'll get either woods view or courtyard view. I requested courtyard view. I know some of the woods view rooms have a view of the MK fireworks at night but I plan on being IN the parks at that time at night, so I'd rather have the courtyard view.

Andy: I'm so sorry about your knee :( Please take it easy. It's got to be so hard for everyone who works outdoors, especially after a blizzard like we just had.

Sue: If you are not used to driving in snow and ice, then please be careful and do all you can to just stay home. It's hard enough sometimes for those of us who grew up in this weather and learned how to drive in this weather, I can't imagine how it'd be for someone not used to it. Please stay safe! :grouphug: P.S. My mother wasn't very steady on her feet either, and she always hated walking outside in bad weather. She even used to warn us, EVERY FALL, to be careful and not slip on the wet leaves. LOL I hope your mom stays safe, too. :)

Darlene: Do you live near Monroe? My sister lives near there and my niece used to go to Monroe High School (years ago, she's now 33).

Joanna: We're pretty proud of the hard work the boys do when we get a storm. It wasn't fun for them to be out there in those conditions (don't forget, our storm didn't stop until last night, so it was still "blizzarding" while they were out there!). The older they get, the better job they do. lol All we've ever asked of them is to make an honest effort. Now, we're shocked at what a great job they're able to do!! lol At times we will give them some cash, to show our appreciation. Last night Craig asked to be driven to his friend's uncle's house who lives around the corner so he could watch the Patriots game with them. Initially we had said "no", because of the weather. But after seeing how hard Craig worked on that driveway, John told me he changed his mind and decided to drive him over, afterall. :) To Craig, that was better than getting a few $$. lol

Bev: Well it'll be a good Super Bowl this year! Eagles VS Patriots! While I'm not really a Patriots fan myself, John and DS16 are, so I *have* to root for them! I think they're both excellent teams to have made it this far. :cheer2:

Diane: Is your picture hosted on a web site somewhere? If not, you can't post it. It has to be somewhere on the internet first. If you want, email the pic to me, I'll put it on my site, and then I can post it here in the thread for you.

I can't believe we're getting more snow! I also can't believe my kids have school tomorrow & we got a final total of 32"! Oh well less days we have to go in the summer right?

Thanks for the help w/ the pic Terry. Actually I got so frustrated I looked it up under the technical board & it explained that it has to be posted on the web. The Dis boards allows you to post it on the Dis photo page & then paste into your post but it seemed like too much of a hassle for the computer illiterate like me. Maybe I'll get ambitious one of these days! ;)

TERRY - We live in Monroe Twp, Gloucester County, which is in the south. There are other Monroe Townships in NJ. It can get confusing.

ANDY - How's the knee today?

Still a bit sore, not as bad as yesterday though, I have been doing the 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off with ice (as per doctor's orders) since yesterday afternoon, and that seems to be helping. Hopefully, I will get back to work tomorrow. Thanks for asking.

Diane and Terry...Is it TRUE that you are getting another 10 inches of SNOW!!

We are getting several (how broad is that) but they said 10 for MA.

Are your schools open yet?

Everyone, stay safe and UNHURT (ahem, Andy)

Joanna

My DSs have yet another snow day today :( They haven't been in school all week so far. We're due for a total of about 9-10" here today. Good grief. Just when the snow from the blizzard was starting to be totally cleared from all the streets.

Andy: I'm glad you're feeling a little better. How is the weather down there today, is NJ getting any more snow??

No snow today, but we did have a SLEET storm go through our area earlier this morning while I was taking Angelina to school. I went back to work this morning, but am walking very carefully!!! Knee still aches like a bugger, but it's felt worse.

Yes another 10" here on top of the 32" we just got the other day. My kids had school yesterday. It was only flurries this morning so I didn't even hestitate & sent my kids off to school with DH. Next thing I know they are back in the door yelling Mom we were the only ones there! There's no school today! :confused3

Boston was off the last 2 days but had school today. The superintendent of schools was under fire on the news for that mishap. He said he didn't expect to get as much snow as we are. Didn't watch the news I guess?

I wouldn't mind so much if it would at least warm up above the teens. I've had enough of this winter & its not even February yet!
:sad2:

Sorry if this is old -- but I haven't been able to keep up with the DisBoards because of family matters. Could someone tell me whether or not the T-shirts were ever made for those of us who sailed during the Hurricane Frances cruise? If so, are they still available for purchase? If you can PM me, that would be great. Sorry -- I can't remember the name of the person that was making them and all my old messages got wiped out when they re-did the Boards. Thanks.

Cathy

Cathy:

That was Dori and they are not done yet. But we will keep you in mind when they are ready.

Diane, Terry and Anyone Else Getting More Snow,

So sorry to hear about all the snow you are getting this week. Three feet, now another foot, oh my!!! I know what you mean about this winter, I can't wait for it to get over with either.

Thanks for the condolences, Andy. :teeth:

Hey, I need to ask everyone's opinion on something. DH and I haven't made any kind of decision yet, and we still will probably go, but we brought up the subject today of us possibly canceling our Royal Caribbean cruise. That cruise sets sail on Friday, June 17, 2005. That is DSs' last day of school. So all along, we knew they'd both miss that last day of school, plus any possible snow days.

Well, now that it's January and we have 4 snow days already, that's a full week of them missing school at the end of the year.

Neither of them have ANY sick days out so far, so that's good. And this is not a major school year for either of them, meaning no graduations or any other major end-of-school things going on this year.

Last year, I know that their last week of school was basically just handing in their books, watching movies, etc. They did no actual school work during that last week. But I'm afraid that if we get any more snow days, that it will eventually cut into actual school time.

Our final payment for this cruise is due by March 14th. Obviously by then we'll know if there are any additional snow days or not. I have a bad feeling about the rest of this week. It wouldn't surprise me if they had no school tomorrow, either.

Now, regarding this cruise: If it were just DH and I going, we'd absolutely be on the phone right now changing the date to later in the summer, but we booked with 2 of my brothers and their wives. They all live in NJ; one brother has pre-schoolers so it's not an issue, the other brother has a daughter in high school but they haven't had any snow days, so it's not an issue for them either.

I really can't ask or expect them to change the date of the cruise to later in the summer. First of all, I know that one of my brothers has ONLY that week available to cruise which is why we chose that week to begin with. Secondly, the later in the summer, the more expensive the cruises are, and I wouldn't want to impose that upon them. One of my SILs even has another couple cruising with us, an uncle and aunt.

I know that DH and I can back out of this cruise and my brothers and SILs can still cruise, but I'd feel like we were letting them down somehow. One SIL is very excited because I told her I'd do Stingray City with her, no one else wants to go. lol

I guess I'm typing this all out so I can see the pros and cons in front of me. And really, I can't make a definite decision until I see if, or how many more snow days there might be. Both of my DSs are on the honor roll and making them miss some days of actual school work would mess up their averages. I guess I could talk to the school and see if they'd let them take any tests or exams in advance.

Ok, I'll stop rambling now. All comments and opinions are welcome! :)

P.S. DSs are NOT going on this cruise with us. We did think of possibly leaving them here in MA, with friends, so they could finish out the school year, but that worries me a bit, because I'd be so far away from them, in the middle of the Caribbean, if anything should happen. Otherwise, they'd be in NJ with their father, who I trust implicity in the event of an emergency. *ugh* I don't know what to do! :confused3 lol

Terry...Hmmm, Let me be the first to reply. OK Since my kids missed the first 2 days of school, missing the last week, unless there were finals etc, in my honest opinion is not the end of the world, BUT if there are ANY tests, than I say change the cruise.
So lets say they extend school by a week because of the evil white stuff, as long as there are NO tests, etc then I say go and have fun and don't look back and dwell on it.

JMHO

Your cruisemate,
Joanna
