Whats harder to believe I just finished an unplanned double dip cruise
It was almost the same as our 2006 cruise. Two stops at CC and Coszmul, only this time it was Grand Cayman instead of Costa Maya
I felt so bad for you guys when I heard you weren't going to Tortola. I was sooooo close to booking this cruise but went for the 8/22 cruise instead. I would have been crushed if I had booked this cruise and it got switched.
There was a woman on my 8/22 cruise who was on your cruise and said people were very upset at the itinerary change and guest services had their hands full dealing with people who wanted to cancel their cruise and get off the ship.
I'm "hoping" to be able to take a 4 day cruise on the Wonder next April for my 55th birthday.![]()
Yeah baby!!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get to go.
Just got off the 8/22 western and this was the best cruise we've had since we cruised with you all. Great group of DISers on our cruise. The live band onboard was outstanding (makes me laugh when I remember how bad XOP was). The CMs were as good as on our 2006 cruise. I must say that Trevor is as good as Pikey.
Finally had Brent as CD. I can see why so many of the ladies on the DIS like him. He's very good when he's onstage but rather shy one-on-one. Not like Christiaan or Andy Carbone who are as personable one-on-one.
We had something interesting happen which I think DCL should consider doing. We were delayed leaving Cozumel as there was mechanical "issues" with the ship that needed to be worked on. So we had the pirate night party but DCL couldn't launch the fireworks.
Instead, there was an impromptu deck party the next night. The live band played a set and the Disney characters came out and danced to the music. Nothing was really planned - just the band played amazing music and the characters just had fun. The band played more rock music and Goofy was head banging. The Goofy pool was still open with kids swimming in the water. The entertainment CMs were dancing on the upper rim of the Goofy pool. I got up and joined them.
Then around 10:15 the fireworks were launched.
I actually preferred this to the pirate night party as the music was far better than what is played during pirate night. The band was as good as any you see in any club. The atmosphere was really fun and relaxed - you could see the Disney characters were having a lot of fun doing whatever moves they wanted.
Kind of reminded me of the old deck parties that DCL used to do.
And how's this for the Disney "magic".....on our last night we were heading north towards Florida and got to see the launch of the space shuttle. The captain told us during the day that we could see the launch at midnight off the starboard side. We were about 70 miles south but since it was night time and the weather was partly cloudy we could see the entire launch.
It was mind blowing....we could see an orange ball lift off from the ground and go straight into the sky. Amazing.
