You can keep it the way it is for now, I'd still like to see if DCL will be doing anything "special" for their 10th Anniversary in 2008.

ok!! :thumbsup2

Do you when exactly is their 10th Anniversary? What is the date of the first sailing of the Magic?? I'm also wondering if they'll do anything special that year for their 10th! That's why I'm hoping they'll change up the ports a little, but still keep with the 7-night itineraries. :)

Oh and one more thing......

This time can we design lanyards like our "three" friends had?

They were cool.....

DISNEY CRUISE LINE HISTORY
= = = = = = = = = = = = = =

The Disney Magic sailed her maiden voyage on July 30, 1998, to somewhat less than stellar reviews. (Disney had previously "tested the waters" of cruising in a cooperative effort with Premiere Cruise Line's Big Red Boats. Disney subsequently decided they wanted more control over the cruises and created the Disney Cruise Line, with the Magic as their first ship.) After listening to its customers, Disney made major changes in how the cruise was organized and structured. Today, you will find many repeat Disney cruisers on board every ship that sails. In fact, during the seven-day Western Cruise, more than half of all passengers were repeat cruisers. Now that says something!

On the heels of the success of the Magic, Disney launched its new ship, the Wonder, on August 15, 1999. The exteriors of the two ships are similar, yet inside there are many differences, including the decor and theming. The Disney Magic sports an art deco style, and deep nautical colors. The Disney Wonder features a more old Parisian, art nouveau style, with sycamore wood, blue glass and polished nickel railings. The atrium lobby of the Magic features Mickey Mouse in Sou'wester rain gear, whereas The Little Mermaid's Ariel is spotlighted in the atrium of the Wonder. Goofy paints the Magic's name on its transom, while Donald and one of his nephews do the job aboard the Wonder.

or "The Cursed Castaways" :rotfl2:

We booked on board for 12/8/07 with the intention of moving it to 2008 but since we are already missing it so much we may try for both. You can put me down for the 16th with a possibility of the 23rd.

Thanks for this info, Andy! :sunny: It'd be great to see something a little different and/or special in 2008, but nothing too drastic. lol

Edited to add: I just finished reading that article... I forgot that I'll be seeing Ariel in the lobby of the Wonder in February instead of Mickey at the Helm! That'll be a little strange, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the Wonder up close for the first time :3dglasses

Hi Mary Rose - so glad to hear that your luggage has shown up. Too bad you couldn't have stowed away in that luggage. Want to come in December instead of next summer? We could start another mini-reunion cruise.

I was looking at Terry's pictures tonight and it was making me so sadd and so happy at the same time. It was so fun but I miss it already!

Hopefully we will have some sun tomorrow and maybe get out of the 60's. I went to a Gretchen Wilson concert last night(outdoor) and it poured and was freezing. It was a good concert but I was actually waiting for it to end because I was so wet and cold.

Linda

Hi Linda!

I would love to do a mini-reunion! Alas, school get in the way. DS John really can't miss too much if you get my drift. It was great spending time with you and hope we can do it again in 2008! Sorry about the concert. It really is unseasonably cold for early Sept.

I liked the other design for the lanyards of the other group also. Although I did like the design of ours too this time. It was nice having a real name and screen names.

I still can't believe it has been over a week since we got off the ship. :sad2:

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

The Western cruises tend to cost more than the Eastern cruises on a regular basis, so maybe that one week difference wouldn't be that big of a price difference. :confused3

Still looking to do a 7 day in 2007 I looked at early October and found that a cat 6 for a western (10/06) is $500 more than a cat 6 on an eastern (10/13). I never realized until recently that westerns are normally more than easterns. Funny thing is we prefer easterns to westerns.

We are hopeful too. Can you say SOUTHERN?? :thumbsup2

Hi Shirley! I really loved Diane's name tags. I wore my all week on my Castaway Club lanyard. I just thought the "three" SOF yellow lanyard was nice.

Hi Jeff! You know I never realized the Eastern was cheaper either. Learn something new everyday!

You can tell tomorrow's a work holiday because so many of us are up late tonight!! :teeth:

That makes sense, Jeff, and it's exactly what we were thinking for our 2004 cruise!! :teeth: That cruise was scheduled to return the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. As you probably know, we ended up getting off the ship on the Tuesday morning AFTER Labor Day, spent the day at MCO, arriving home around midnight Tuesday night, and my boys started school the next morning, Wednesday! :teeth:

When the subject comes up Missy and I always say that it would have been cool to pay for 7 days and get a 10 day cruise. In the big scheme of things missing a few days of school never amounts to anything. If you raise a good student then it won't really matter.

Since Catherine has shown herself to be very responsible we are considering in 2007 to go completely off-peak (Sept or Oct).

We were actually on the cruise just before yours. We sailed a special itinerary 08/21/04 - 08/28/04 that included St. Thomas and Puerto Rico which had gorgeous weather. Calm before the storm I guess.

Funny thing is that cruise was sandwiched between hurricane Charley which showed up just before our cruise and hurricane Frances which came right after. I remember being at guest services on Thursday (heading to CC from PR) and looking at a weather map posted by DCL. It listed a tropical storm named Frances which I didn't think much about at the time. Who knew what damage she would do.

Hi Jeff!

I was also on the 2004 and here in Old Bridge my kids missed the first two days of school because of the unexpected 10 days. It was traumatic for my kids who said that on the first two days who get your bus seat and your lunch seat. They were both horified to miss the beginning of school. Now missing time in the middle of the school year - well, they'd have no problem with that! LOL
