Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

After some checking and planning we have decided we still want to cruise on the Magic in 2008.

So after a lot of time on the computer , and some time on the phone I can now say we are sailing in 2008

August 3rd - 10th, 2008 to the Mexican Riviera

Sadly not many of the crusing Castaways will be on this one, but we will see what 2009 will bring.

Ed: CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you and your family, I know how much you wanted to sail the Magic in 2008!!!

OK, I can't believe I just did this, but I had to share this with a "few" of my closet friends, LOL!!!

I just got a quote for the 5 day sailing of the Magic on 9-1-08 for just Hazel and I in a cat. 11, if I can swing it, and pull it off, I'm going to use this as a surprise 33rd Wedding Anniversary gift to her. The price came in a just a tad over $1200, I first got a quote for a cat. 9, but since it would just be the two of us, the $$ saved from a cat. 9 to a cat. 11, would help cover our tips for the 5 nights.

Can you imagine 20 nights on the Magic in a row and three stops at Castaway Cay within days of itself!!! Talk about your back to back cruises, I think my retirement date of June 1, 2010 might be extended, LOL!!!

Wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it!!!!!

Wow, Andy!! LOL I can't imagine 20 nights aboard the Magic!!! How will you get Angelina back to NJ after the repo cruise, in time for college? Will your mom fly home with her while you and Hazel stay onboard??? I wonder if you'll be setting a record for being onboard the Magic for the most consecutive days (other than the CMs! LOL)???

Wow, Andy!! LOL I can't imagine 20 nights aboard the Magic!!! How will you get Angelina back to NJ after the repo cruise, in time for college? Will your mom fly home with her while you and Hazel stay onboard??? I wonder if you'll be setting a record for being onboard the Magic for the most consecutive days (other than the CMs! LOL)???

I know someone last year that did a 3-peat, 21 days on the Magic in a row.

We have to see how things go, "if" we do this, then yes my mom and Angelina would fly home after the 15 day cruise, then Hazel and I would fly home after the 5 day cruise.

Anyone see that thread titled, "must....obey...the....mouse". That perfectly describes us. I think we all have that Disney microchip implanted in our brains.

Andy.....holy cow.....a back-to-back on the repo???? Talk about delaying that post-cruise-depression syndrome. Wow, 20 days on the Magic. I think its great you and Hazel will have some alone time. And five days will be perfect. So - you're going for that triple dip, too.

Julie.....definitely grab the opportunity to sail on the repo. Wow - to go through the Panama Canal at your age. You will be our Mexican Riveria expert after that.

Ed....knew you couldn't stay away from DCL. I'm looking forward to reading about your experience in Mexico, especially after sailing on the other side of Mexico.

And I'm sure rooms will open up on the repo....I think people will sober up and cancel as time goes on.

How about this cold weather.......Yeah, I'm a cold weather person so we're loving it. But that's because I've got all the right gear. It was 5 degrees taking the kids to the bus stop yesterday morning and a balmy 8 degrees this morning.

Oh, here's an interesting DCL moment we had on Saturday. We were skiing at Camelback Ski resort in the Poconos (PA). We were eating lunch at a small restaurant at the top of the mountain. Sitting next to us was a family with a young daughter wearing a DCL t-shirt. It was the D Sea U t-shirt.

I was going to say something to the family but we were in a rush as DH, DS & DD needed to get over to the other side of the mountain to participate in the afternoon ski races.

I know we will be cruising together in 2009.

I just paid the deposit on the 5 day, so at least I have our deposit in, we'll see where we go from there. If we are able to do the 5 day, after the 15 day, it will be a "TRIPLE DECKER DIPPER" LOL!!!

Hello fellow Cruising Castaways

Last night I was looking for something in my closet and came across a stack of pictures from our cruise last August, so I took 2 of them and put them in an 8X10 frame, and I'm going to bring it to work today and hang it next to my desk. One of the pictures is of the 4 of us standing on Castaway Cay with the Magic in the background (taken by the ship's photographer, with the "Castaway Cay" and Lilo and Stitch graphics on the sides), and the other picture is of John and I in the water, snorkeling on the Fury Catamaran excursion. It's the picture that the photographer onboard the catamaran took and it actually came out very nice! The water looks SOOOO blue, almost like blue Gatorade. LOL Anyway, it brought back some great memories of our cruise!!

DD at Pez Quadro in Costa Maya...those people behind her are actually sitting/laying down in the water. It was that nice.

Speaking of the beach......in the midst of all the craziness with 2008 bookings, I got a bill for my Jersey shore summer beach rental for this summer. Boy, that vacation money is just flying out of the wallet.

Hello Everyone, I think it finally stopped snowing here in CNY. Not as bad in Syracuse as in our neighboring city of Oswego, and points north. I cannot start the snowblower, so I shoveled, and shoveled, and shoveled more. But I enjoy the fresh air and exercise. I hope everyone is happy and healthy, and Andy, if you need someone to carry the luggage for the 21 day vacation, give me a call.
