Calling All 8/19/06 Special Western Cruisers! AKA "The Cruisin' Castaways" Part 2

Welcome to FL.

Well its 10 pm and the laundry is being down, time to repack our bags for the trip to the port in the morning.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you at either the Radisson or Grills.

Ok....I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone!! I *think* I have almost all of our clothes packed (one final load of laundry is washing now), and we still have a little space in each of the suitcases, AND I already have all of the boxes of lime green leis in the suitcases!! WHY DO I HAVE SO MUCH ROOM LEFT? AM I FORGETTING SOMETHING?!?!?? John and I each only have one large suitcase, and the boys each only have one medium suitcase, AND both of our carry-on sized suitcases are still EMPTY! What gives? What am I forgetting?? THIS IS SCARY!!

Cruise documents, boarding passes, Magical Express envelope (for post-cruise WDW stay), annual passes, US Passports, etc?? CHECK!!

Bathing suits for all of us?? CHECK!!

Suits, dress shirts, ties, dress shoes, for John and the boys?? CHECK!!

Formal night and semi-formal night outfits for me?? CHECK!!

Various, shorts, t-shirts, tops, underwear, socks...?? CHECK!!

Toiletries and medications?? They're not packed yet, but are ready to go into the suitcases in the morning!!!

Door magnets?? CHECK!!

Ok well...seems like I have everything! Can anyone think of anything I'm forgetting?? lol

Your list looks good to me! I dont think you left anything off. We didnt bring alot of luggage either for the 4 of us. My friends dd who is staying with us forgot her birth certificate at home in Virginia!!!! Luckily her landlord had a key and sent it fedex today. She was so worried about not having her daughters birth certificate, that she forgot her own. The most important thing for me to pack was bonine, which I will start taking tomorrow. they say you should start it 24 hours before you travel, just to be safe before we sail!

All is well, we arrived in Daytona Beach, a couple hours ago. We went to Cracker Barrel since we couldn't get together with Andy's family for dinner.

Andy: Sorry to hear about all the delays flying.

I think I am close to getting arrested. I come to find that Aunt Helen's condo is rarely used so you doesn't have cable or the phone turned on which leaves no means to connect to the Internet.

OK you ask, then how am I connected. Well, I am a programmer and fairly resourceful. I walked around the condo complex until I found an unsecure wireless network.

That's right. I am sitting on the sidewalk in front somebody's condo that I don't know 1,000 miles from home.

I need help!!

I will try to borrow someone's wireless connection again tomorrow, but if I can't safe travels everybody and I will see on the Magic.

Okay -- it's 10:30 and Steve is peeling our door magnets off of the fridge & packing them. The dishwasher is running, all of the packing is done, documents are ready to go, dogs are at "camp"...time to shut this computer down and get to bed. I have to be up about a quarter to four so we can make our security window. Tomorrow we're at MK and AKL. See you all on Saturday.

Terry: Did you get the security tag off? I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to do it but I hope you were able to get it done. Did you pack sandals &/or sneakers?

Andy & Jeff: Glad you made it safe & sound, sorry you couldn't connect for dinner.

I just finished hemming my DS's tuxedo that we bought last minute. I can't sew for beans but I did my best!

Gotta go do my own nails, take a shower, dress & finish throwing toiletries & make-up in the suitcases. Then we should be ready to leave. I am not bothering with going to bed since I am usually up very late anyway. I hope to sleep a bit on the plane since I was not lucky enough to snag some valium!

This should be my last post before we take off in a few hours! Take care everyone & see ya all on the MAGIC!!!!

Susan: We take Bonine every day while we cruise, starting the day before, which is tomorrow, so we'll be starting our Bonine tomorrow too!

I never did get the tag off yet, I've heard of other people who tried to remove them and ended up with dye all over the garment. I found my receipt, and there's a Kmart nearby, so I'm going to call there tomorrow to see if they can help me. If not, I'll be leaving my brand new capris at home. Oh well, it could worse. lol

Diane: Yes, we did pack extra pairs of shoes, sneakers, sandals, etc. It seems like I have everything packed, so I'm not going to worry about it. lol


Since it's just after midnight, I can now say "SEE YOU TODAY and/or TOMORROW!!!!"

Well it is my time to sign off now. I would say that I am going to sleep but if prior experience is any indication I won't really fall asleep until 5 minutes before the alarm goes off. Best wishes to all who are traveling tomorrow(that's me too, finally!!!) See you all on Saturday, enjoy Grills - I will be thinking about you guys.

Doreen - rack your brain and see if you can remember the woman in the green/blue Equinox with two kids in the back all staring at you driving down Northern Blvd. I thought about trying to say something but I was afraid we might get in an accident and what if it wasn't you and I was accosting some other woman driving down the road. Fly safe - see you again real soon.

Andy & Jeff - glad you both arrived safely, sorry for the delays. Don't get arrested Jeff, we don't want to be pooling our money to bail you out before the ship sails!

Packing last minutes myself; well last few hours

the white mac's looking nice to me atm / not sure // dont' use mac at home although have created graphic and stuff at school /work on them..

K gotta go pack, wish me luck.. for the things I've been wondering where is like my son's pin collection (hmmm, ) that's on the neck thing and saw within the last two months. .. to much moving stuff around I think,,, (been fixing up my place and trying to declutter, oh how I love old memories....

We have had quite a week! My husband dropped me and my 9 yr old son with all the luggage (let's just say so many bags I didn't want to count them) at check-in at the airport. He rolled half the bags in while I loaded the smaller ones on a cart and I had my son "watching" the bags at the counter. Meanwhile someone has left a small bag outside at the curb and security was swarming around it for possible bomb threat potential so we were all a little distracted. Hubby goes to parents and gets a ride back while I check luggage in. I check 10 bags for 6 people - seems right doesn't it?

Absolutely grueling flight...

Get to hotel and hubby keeps saying, hmm I just don't seem to be able to find the bag with my clothes. I just ignore him knowing there's no way we could have left an entire suitcase behind after planning for 2 YEARS. Sure enough, we don't have the suitcase with ALL HIS CLOTHES! Send his parents to our house - no not there. Check both the vans - not there. ALARM - PANIC - ANXIETY! His mom decided to go to the airport just in case and look for a suitcase with a lime green tag hanging off of it. Thank goodness for DIS! Oh yeah, it's there. No ID since it was a new suitcase and I was just putting the airline tags on at the counter. But after describing contents, they turned it over to her. Now, just one problem. Alaska Airlines won't ship it on their plane. $180 later, got it by Fed-ex at our hotel. At least we can still go to dinner together - because I was still planing on going to dinner with or without my somewhat well-dressed hubby!

So if anyone ever asks "Should I fly in early?" the answer is YES!

Another anecdote - every time I see someone with a lime green anything, I always comment, I wonder if they're a DISmember? My husband tells me pleadingly "Please don't talk to them." He's worried someone might call the cops!

Can't wait to on board with all my luggage!

Yes, I feel like I'm forgetting something. My mom's packed and her suitcases are really light. DD Lindsay has 1 big suitcase and 1 carry on. So how come I have 2 big heavy suitcases and 1 carry on (so far). I didn't pack all the docs yet. I'm going to do that now. I'm staying up all night. It just doesn't pay to go to sleep for a few hours - I'll be more tired.

I cannot believe I will be sleeping in Florida tonight, or probably later this AM. Cannot wait to meet you all.

and then the national weather did the test at 115... WIDE AWAKE than.. folded the rest of the clothes.. YEAH>> We are all awake now..

Well, we're all packed (although I'm sure I'm forgetting something!) and all I have left to do is wait for the limo to arrive at 7:30am. Yesterday was crazy... my poor dog had an allergic reaction to a vaccine and her front leg swelled up so much. I had to take her to the vet's, and he was tempted to keep her overnight. I was in a panic, wondering if we would be able to change our flights, etc (I'm not sure if trip insurance would kick in if the "family member" who got sick was a dog!) Anyhow, the vet gave her a cortisone injection and an antihistamine, and by midnight the swelling had gone down, but she was still limping. She's still sleeping, so hopefully she'll be better today. Luckily, we found someone to stay here with the 2 dogs, so we won't have to board them.

Allright, I'm signing off now. See you all at the Radisson or on the ship!
