Aack!!! I can't handle the pressure! 1000th post! (yes, I know VMan has posted more than 1000 to this thread alone!)

1000. Hmm, it's got to be a good one. Something special...makes you laugh, makes you cry. A little whimsical, a little philosophical, but not too profound...Suggestions??? "just a spoonful of sugar"...nah.

I'll get back to you on this... :scratchin

Waiting patiently for your 1000 post - feel it's going to be a good one! I even got up early on my day off to check if you had hit it! :thumbsup2

Denise, I would love to share with you what I thought bobblehead was about, but here is not the place!! :rotfl2: :lmao:

Terry, hope the throat is getting better!

Linda, glad to see the work thing working itself out! I am still frantically dieting but getting nowhere fast - 7lbs down but I need to lose at least another 7 before the holiday (and to be honest another 14lbs after it!).

Sun is shining, birds are singing, school is out so we are out for the day! :bounce:

Later!

Moira.

The :sunny: is shining bright here this morning as well, and a cool breeze is blowing, this is probably going to be one of the top 10 days of the year, if only we had about 364 other days just like this one!!! :thumbsup2

The area that I was working in yesterday has a creek that runs along side the housing development. With all the rain we have been having the creek overflowed it's banks at high tide. I could actually stand there and watch the water rise and come over the banks. One street that I had been on about 30 minutes prior, was completely under water, I am so glad I got those meters read when I did, but I felt so bad for those families whose yards were completely submerged. I went back to check later in the day, and the water was back down, but a lot of the water still remained in the peoples yards.

Here's wishing everyone a GREAT weekend!!! :woohoo:

Margarita Tasting on the Magic

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I attended this event on the June 24th cruise and it was very different than what I expected. The person presenting gave some great information on the history and types of Tequila. Margaritas are one of my favorite drinks and the actual tasting was not to my liking. They start you off by giving you a shot of Jose Cuervo Gold and you lick salt off your hand and bite a lime after. The lime and salt is only for the Cuervo. Next they give you a shot of a higher quality Tequila. I don't like doing shots and used the salt and lime anyway. Straight Tequila is nasty. Next, they give you another shot of a very good Tequila. Still nasty to me and I once again used the salt and lime to the dismay of the presenter. Finally, they bring out two small Margaritas that could have fit into a Dixie cup. One Strawberry and one regular. I would have traded the shots for 8 mini Margaritas if given a choice. They were good but I could still taste the shots. Is doing shots of Tequila considered Margarita tasting? I'm sure some people who attended enjoyed the pure taste of Tequila, but if you don't do shots, you may want to spend the money at the bar getting real Margaritas. I did leave the room with a buzz and maybe that was the real purpose of the presentation. Thought I would share this with the future cruisers.

Just read this on another thread.. Interesting to know this info prior to the cruise...

DOREEN

Thanks for the description. That does not sound anything like the martini tasting I attended last summer.

Moira; I'm with you on the diet thing but you're ahead of me by 3 lbs! It sure gets harder to lose weight as you get older - 2 yrs ago, I went on a diet and lost 12 lbs in 4 weeks; it was AWESOME! This time around, I've been at it almost 4 weeks and I've only lost 4 lbs - and I'm stuck!!!! Yuck! Is there such a thing as diet PD? I need a truckload!!!

POTC 2: so did anyone go and see it in the middle of the night? Is it suitable for 7 yr olds? I've been hesitating about letting my DD see the first one (I saw it a long time ago but I forget how "scary" it was). Now that the likelyhood of #2 being shown on the cruise is apparently quite high, I'm tempted to rent it... any opinions?

Doreen: the last time I had tequila, I was in University (a LONG, LONG time ago!) and it made me so violently ill that now I can't even stand the smell of it... too bad because Margarita are usually so pretty... now let's talk Daiquiris and I'm in!!!

Julie

From 2yrs ago to 6 weeks.. WOW!!!! can you beleive it !! :goodvibes

We finally have some great sun here today as well.. Maybe I can go out for a ride in the 'STANG.. :drive: Last night I tried to take it with DANIEL and MARTY ..darn it, heard me try to start it up.... sure enough he made DANIEL go to the back and he sat up front. I had no clue how to start the sucker up even,,( so I guess I needed him). I can shift with no problem .. its getting up those darn hills (well ok the little ANT hills at the end of the streets..) :rotfl: And he made me go to that same street over and over again..lol.MARY ROSE its like a street at your corner.. Not really a hill but enough of a roll to get over..lol :lmao: I had beeping at me. starring at me. OH WELL!! :car:

Terry how are you feeing? better I hope.

MOIRA... are you guys still in school over there? We end school anywhere from end of MAY to end of JUNE in the STATES...

ANDY I got another SLIME GREEN t-shrirt. I will be sending it along failry soon.

Ok off to do some work here.. TERRY.. enjoy the day off before the work week starts again... :woohoo:

DOREEN

There must be! Come on Canucks, stand up and be counted!!! DH, DD (7) and I are from the Greater Toronto Area, and we're flying down this time (we usually drive), leaving from Buffalo on SWA. :wave2:

When we were on the ship last year (Wonder, 4nts), we were actually quite surprised at how many crew members were Canadian - actually, it was amazing to see how far some crew members had travelled to work on the Ship, but then again, I'd travel "to infinity and beyond" (I know, corny!) for the chance to work on this floating paradise! Wouldn't you? We're working on DD to set her sights on such a job (so mom and dad can get a discount!!!) :teeth:

Julie

Julie: I can't stand tequila either, no margaritas for me! I like drinks made with rum, like pina colada! We have friends from Toronto that we may be cruising with next winter. :sail: We stayed in Canada for 5 days when we took the kids to Niagara Falls back in 2001, and we loved it. I have pictures from that trip on my web site. :3dglasses

Doreen: John said the same exact thing to me as he was leaving to go to work "Enjoy your last day off!" Geez, it's like next week will be the end of the world or something. Then again, it WILL be the end of the world as *I* know it! :rotfl: Party's over! :joker: Ah well, I feel very fortunate to have been a stay at home mom for basically the last 18+ years. :goodvibes Now I'm looking forward to a paycheck again! :smooth: And the hours I'll be working (9am - 3:30pm) are actually quite nice. I won't have to leave here until 8:30am, which is over an hour after John and the boys will be leaving in the morning (Well, it'll depend which classes Craig has on which days, but I know he has morning classes almost every day for the fall semester), so that'll be nice, I'll have time to check my email and check the DIS boards before leaving for work. Then I'll be home by 4pm each day which leaves time to get things done such as dry cleaners, food shopping, banking, doctor's appts, etc. Ask me how I feel a week from now, after my first full week back at work!

I'm sipping hot tea with lemon and honey. I'm feeling a bit better today. My throat doesn't hurt as much, the laryngitis is a bit better, and I don't feel quite as congested. :)

Tomorrow is our anniversary and John's been asking me what I'd like to do. I think we'll start the day with brunch at our favorite restaurant. Not sure what I want to do the rest of the day though :scratchin

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Terry...good luck on the job and hope you feel better! Congrats on the anniversary!

Sun is shining bright and the next few days are supposed to be beautiful..sunny and 85 every day. We also had alot of flooding in our area due to the Susquehanna, Delaware and Lackawanna River spilling its banks. We watched video of flooding where houses went down the creek. They actually closed Interstate 81 (a major north/south interstate) from 10 miles from us to the New York border. I've never heard that done before.

Doreen...how far are you from the Carousel Mall? We are thinking of taking a trek up there before the cruise. Were you in Scranton recently? That's where I work...where were you? Mary Jo

Its hard to believe , 6 weeks to go.
Which means to me, 5 weeks from Today I start Vacation, and the following day we leave for WDW.

I got to get busy finalizing the trip and all the things that need to get done before the cruise.

MARY JO. I am 7 miles from there..you take the main road from there and turn left and a right and the next right is my street..lol My daughter works at STEVE MADDEN at the mall...We drove through SCRANTON on SUNDAY after the BRUNCH...

In FEBRUARY I will be back there for a Lia Sophia mtg too.. We went to the RADISSON train station I think. Yeah the flooding was pretty bad along RT 81 and the NYS THRUWAY. We were pretty lucky.

Let me know when you will be here if I I dont have a show maybe I can meet up with you for a soda or something..

DOREEN

Terry -- hope you continue to feel better! Have a wonderful anniversary tomorrow party:. I hope you have a chance to really celebrate! :cake:
Lori

:cool1: Yup, that's my 1000th Post!!!! A good reason to party!!! :drinking1 party:

Sorry to keep you in suspense...I told you I was going to Bobblehead Night! Tides won 1-0 w/ a homer in the 9th (woo hoo! I didn't want to wait for extra innings!); kids got to run the bases after. DH and son Kieran were picked to do one of those between-innings contests out on the field. They had fun and won the prize (doh! it was sponsored by Hamburger Helper - lame HH t-shirts!!!!). Best of all, the rain stopped just long enough for some tailgating and the whole game; it poured soon after I left the park. :sunny:

Denise, I am NOT willing to give up on the dieting just yet!!! (although I've learned that just saying the word "diet" doesn't really mean anything; apparently I have to change some eating habits to qualify). sigh. I still have all 10 (plus a few more) of the 10 lbs I said I'd lose way back when....I guess I have to put my money where my mouth is, and try a little harder. Starting tomorrow... :rolleyes1 To all of you on the road to success, keep going, and congrats on all your hard work!!!! :worship: :thumbsup2

I'm down 65lbs from the meet last Aug at Trails End, but the last month has been like a yo yo, First I lose 2 or 3lbs then next time its back on, Its been that way for the past month and 1/2 :furious:

I hope to lose another 10 or so before the cruise but I dont know,

The only good thing I am maintaining and not putting on any additional.

Doreen...my daughter loves Steve Madden! I'm sure that she'll drop some dough in there..LOL...I hate to buy clothes and shoes in NY though since we don't pay tax on either. My dad used to actually work in that train station before it was the hotel. It is a beautiful building and they left it go in disrepair until the Hilton originally bought it.

Jen...congratulations on #1000....were the Tides the Norfolk Tides...the local team in my area is the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Red Barons and I know that they always play the Norfolk Tides (or anyway they did)!

Ed....congratulations on the weight loss...quite an achievement!

Congrats on #1000 Jen, here's to the next 10,000!!!!! :thumbsup2
