OMG Andy...Did she put 2 & 2 together and figure it was hers? Just curious if you told her it was your other family members and they used her address. Some baloney story to confuse her for another week, if she is able to be confused. If not, was she doing flips that she was cruising with the rest of the family?

Do you need a Florida license to be considered a Fl resident?

Andy: I know you didn't plan it that way, but I bet she was thrilled!

Did anyone else make the mistake of booking Delta for their flights? OMG I am going crazy with them. Everytime I go in and check my intinerary my flts are changed. They only change by minutes so not a big deal there, but I lose my seat assignments everytime! Then I have to call them to assign my seats because for some unknown reason, you can't assign your own seats on a changed flt. Once they go in and assign your seats for you, you can change them around to your heart's content! I wish they would make up their minds once and for all what they are doing with their new schedule now that Delta Song is gone! I did get a great deal for booking months ago, but at what price? :badpc:

Sorry I had to vent to someone & DH is out having my van fixed. Thanks for listening! :listen:

Happy Spring Everyone!!! :sunny:

The envelope was sent in my mom's name and the info inside had my mom's name on it as well. It didn't take her long to figure out what was up. She kind of caught me off guard with this news, so I had to fess up with her on the phone. My mom starting choking up once she realized it was the same cruise that my sister and neice (with her family) were going to be on. Well, we still have one more person we can surprise with the cruise. My sister still doesn't know that my mom is booked for this cruise, as my niece wanted to surprise her at my mom's party with the news as well. Hopefully, we can still pull that surprise off, only one more week to go.

I did send in a request just to see exactly what was needed as proof for the Florida Resident Rate, this is the response I received from DCL:

We accept any of the following as proof of residency:

Florida Driver's License
Florida State Identification
Florida Utility Bill (in passenger's name)
Florida Voter's Registration Card
Florida Renter's/Lease Agreement

Thank You for that info. We use to own a house in FL but we sold it. The utility bill is interesting though, especially for those of us who have older parents in Florida who we help financially.

Well, I hope you are able to pull off the surprise with your sister. That should be priceless.

I am so glad I started to read these boards again. I had no idea you could get a discount on the cruise if you are a Florida Resident (live and learn!) We just closed on a rental home in Kissimme and are going down monday. I just got my first Florida utility bill in my name, so I guess on monday I will just call DCL and see what the discount is. Will they still apply it as I booked awhile ago? thanks!

The Florida Resident Rates are only offered on certain cruises. They tend to become available near or after the final payment date is due, and if DCL still has cabins they are trying to fill. The FRR just became available for the May 6th and May 13th cruises just a little over a week ago.

Yay! My countdown timer broke into the four month mark!

It's actually starting to feel real. We are going away Easter week but it's no Disney vacation. When we come back I'll be in full cruise planning mode!

I still have no airfare as of yet. I'm hoping for reasonable flight costs when Southwest releases its August schedules. Anyone have any ideas as to when that might happen?

Happy Sunday!

Yea,

I just got a discount on my Autotrain trip to Fl.
kids travel free with two adults.

Saving money of the way down is always good. :)

I don't feel so bad knowing this information now Andy. We paid for my Mom's cruise in 04 and didn't know anything about the Fla. rate. It might not have been available for that cruise. That's ashame and just doesn't seem fair not to offer a little bit of cabins for all cruise's. :confused3

Now, regarding airfare!! We usually fly with Delta and actually have a voucher for about $50, but their rates are CRAZY  right now!! We booked the airfare for our May Disney World trip over a month ago and got a rate of $187 per person, non-stop, round trip. Now that same flight is over $350. I've also been keeping an eye on the airfare for August for the cruise, all this time. Even that airfare, on Delta, is crazy. Again they're showing $350+ per passenger. So, I checked other airlines and found the decent price of $227 per person, non-stop, round trip on American Airlines, and I am about ready to book that!! I'm afraid to wait in case it goes up even more, but then again, there's a chance it could come down... :confused3 Have you all booked your airfare yet? If so, how much are you paying for airfare?

Terry: We booked Delta Song back in November & got 176.90 per person rd trip for Aug. I think it was about 189.00 for our upcoming June trip. I am thrilled with the price but I am not so happy with all the changes Delta is making to our flts lately. We are trying to book another WDW trip during Thanksgiving week so we can get one more use out of our APs but Delta's fares are too high at over 400.00 per person. Now we are just waiting to see what Jetblue & SW will offer. :surfweb:

Terry: Congrats on paying off the cruise ! party: :dancer: party: Not only DIDN"T we get our tickets for Aug. but we still need to get our tickets for July for my in-laws 50th.

Diane: Great price on Delta Song ! :thumbsup2 Hopefully they will be done with all of there changes now. :rolleyes1 One time I booked far in advance to Chicago and they changed times and flights so many times it was hard to keep things straight. Sooooo frustrating.

Is anyone else as excited as I am that tomorrow is the 21st? :cheer2:
I can say that I am 99.99 percent sure we won't be able to cruise the summer of 2007 but I am interested in seeing where everybody else will be going. :rotfl2:

Oh the ports.........the price..........wonder what else they will announce.

We booked our flights about a month ago on JET BLUE. we are flying out of Newark on the 17th and then we plan on staying in Orlando after the cruise for a couple of days so we won't be coming home until the 29th. our flights were about $198 round trip. I think they have come up a little since we booked.

Good Luck :thumbsup2

Denise

I finally booked our flights yesterday.   The total was $1,262.00 for all 6 of us. We have to fly out of Rochester which is about 1 1/2 hours away but it is direct flights up and back. I also booked the Ameri-Suites($59 for all 6 of us) for the night before the cruise and the Budget rental cars for the 18th -19th and for the 26th. I will be taking DH, MIL, & SIL to Orlando on the 26th and then I will go to Sarasota and meet my Mother and go to her new house for a few days. I wanted to fly Jet Blue but the rates were outrageous. At least we have direct flights so it makes up for the drive and parking the car at the airport.

My FIL passed away a month ago so things have been really crazy around here. A lot of legal issues surronding the death. It has been non-stop crazy in my life. Things are now in the hands of the court and we don't have a court date until April 24th so at least now there may be some time to mourn and try to pull our life back to normal.

On a good note, my MIL was able to sell her Mother's house after about a year of trying so she is going to be able to pitch in some for my SIL's portion of the trip. That will make paying it off a little easier.

Andy - sorry to hear about the dog. We have gotten a new puppy and there are times when I'm not sure she will ever stop biting my daughter (not hard but she has ripped almost every piece of clothes that she owns).

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Linda...Sorry to hear about your FIL.
What kind of puppy did you get and how old is your DD?
In our area, this past winter, a 7 yr old girl was killed accidentally by her golden retriever who was playing with her and was yanking on her scarf. A truly tragic accident. I only said it (when you said he bites her clothes)because the mother put him outside when the girl came home from school because he wouldn't stop nipping at her scarf, then the girl went out to play with him and her mother found her dead in the yard.

My Bichon is eating my shoes and I am about to scream. I am a shoe horse, I LOVE my shoes, I guess he does also. LOL

Denise,

Our tentative plans are to fly down on Tuesday, August 16th and home on the 29th as well! I just have to confirm the first day of school. I'm hoping the Tuesdays keep our airfare low.
