called this morning for dec ressies

That's funny Minnie's Mate... I booked from post-Thanksgiving right up to the end of the pre-holiday rates, and you booked as much at Holiday rates as you could! I wish I could afford those ressies! Hate that we'll miss ya!

Cindy F, :cheer2: !!!

That may be the only reason I got the dates that I did. But the CM said that the only thing available for those dates was a premium site and a buddy of mine that lives in Orlando and goes every year between Christmas and New Years said he called when he got home on Jan. 3rd and they were already booked for the week between so that may be all that was left when I called Tuesday.

My wife is a teacher and I have two school age children so we are limited to school holidays. School is supposed to let out on the 18th and we will leave as soon as they get home. We are used to arriving at FW in the wee hours of the night. They start back on the 4th so we will have to come back on the 3rd. Would stay longer if it weren't for school...and funds, but it is still cheaper than staying in one of the on-site hotels.

BTW, a couple of years ago we couldn't get a ressie at Christmas so we called the Kissimmee KOA and they were $1/night more than FW. Talk about value. We didn't camp that year.

So far this year we have three trips planned for FW and one for the AKL (Memorial Day Weekend for my birthday...what are we celebrating!). We'll be at FW for July 4th week, MNSSHP, and Christmas Holidays. Can't get enough Disney or FW.

We are booked in a premium for December 6-13 because when I made res last year the CM booked us in the wrong year. Even though we printed it out we never noticed the 2009 date, niether did the security guard who couldn't find us when we pulled up nor did the CM at check in for about 10 mins.:faint: Lucky they had room and all worked out well but from now on I will check the date carefully. At least now we has this year covered, :thumbsup2 we may even extend it a bit.

We are booked Nov 29th-Dec 5th.

Been looking at all the pics on here of all the Christmas decor people put out, is that stuff you guys bring from home? Going to make it extra-magical if thats possible seeing all that with the little ones. I also saw someone had wrapped lights around there deck (cabin), is that ok by Disney? Just wondering if I should bring some the kids would like that.

Some of the folks who do the bigger displays maintain a storage locker near Disney to stow their stuff, but yeah, a lot of it is stuff folks bring from home. Inflatables are very popular since they compact so well for travel. And yes, Disney allow decorating at the cabins also... some folks even do inflatables on cabin loops. It's great fun and Disney even encourages it by having decorating contests! Enjoy!

I thought 12 months was as far as you could book in advance. If I had realized that I would have already booked this year so I'd have all the dates I want. Guess I'll be booking next year real soon.

You can book 499 days in advance of your departure date when booking "room only" reservations through CRO. Online you can book only as far in advance as they have released rates for.

I'm looking at making ress about that time too, hoping for aprox. 11/30-12/10 or 11/9-11/20. I was wondering how the weather for getting wet is. Pools and fountains, no water parks. This will be our 1st trip as family DD2 DD4 at time of trip, DW and I went as many years before we knew each other. Will be in our popup and I think Loop 1500 will be our best bet. So I weighing crowds, weather, and decorations I will have many more questions before this is over.

Thanks,
AHK:boat:

We were there 11/30-12/19. The first week and half were darned chilly!! The FW pool was pretty much empty and the poor lifeguards looked like they were wearing snowsuits.

Our last week or so it really warmed up nicely (80-ish) and there were lots more people in the pool.

The resort pools themselves are all heated to around 82-84.

Welcome to the Boards!!!:cheer2:

That time of year is a gamble--ya never know. Chances are, though, that you'll be able to enjoy at least some pool time, since the pools are heated. We've been the beginning of November and enjoyed a water park, went the beginning of December another time and the kids enjoyed the pool. A little chilly getting out, but no big deal.

If you want to see the decorations in the parks, you will want the time after Thanksgiving Week. The decorations are up before Thanksgiving, but aren't officially lit until Thanksgiving. Some will be on, but not all parks and not all in any given park. After Thanksgiving they will all be on in all the parks. Decorations at the Fort will be individuals decorating their own sites and it will be up to those who are there as to how early they decorate. The Fort will have limited decorations up at the bus stops, check-in building, Meadows, Trails End and Trading Post, but very restrained compared to the parks.
