I booked our trip with DU....Land/Sea....I made a couple special requests.

Should I call a few days before we leave to check and make sure these requests are there? My TA says she did....it's not that I don't believe here, exactly, I just want to double check.

What number do I call and what info do I need.

We are staying at the Poly.

If you don't trust your travel agent you shouldn't have used them.

IMO if you try to call to verify the requests you will simply be wasting not only your time but the CM's time. Your travel agent owns your reservation and the CMs are not supposed to access the reservation for anybody other than the travel agent. In fact, most of the time they are not able to access the reservation because they don't have the clearance to view travel agent reservations. (Only select CMs have access to travel agent files)

If you still don't trust your travel agent just ask at the front desk if they were able to meet your requests.

Sorry but once you book with a TA you have to go through them for any res info - Disney will just tell you to contact your agent and will not discuss anything with you. ;)

JMO - I know it's hard!- but in your case I would trust the DU agent when they say they did it for you.

Just remember though they are just requests and WDW does try to honor them but still might not be able to....and have a wonderful vacation!

:dance3:

1) I would say to trust your TA's (DU, in this case) word.
2) If they said they added it to the ressie, they probably did.
3) WDW tries hard to honor requests.
4) Of course, all can't be honored, but a surprising amount are.
5) Sit back - relax - enjoy.

I have had great luck with my DU agent. I trust that she makes requests for me. But, I have had my requests met only about 50% of the time. Requests are just that, requests. Disney does not assign you your room until you are standing there, ready to check in. If what you have requested is available, you will get it. Unfortunately there is no way to be 100% sure your requests will be met ahead of time. Just keep your fingers crossed, and remember that no matter what, you will have a great time!:)

I use to make requests, and quite often came close to all I requested.
But since I moved here, I throw caution to the wind ;) and take what they give me. So far, so good. :goodvibes
:thumbsup2

I still fail to understand why the resorts don't/won't assign a room based on requests well ahead of time. We are able to have cabins on board ship assigned when we book and pay-in-full ahead of time. If you call and book room only and play balance after, then I understand...but payed in full ahead of time should equal room assigned!

My requests are not just for the heck of it....they are medical needs, and truly are "deal breakers" if not honored. I would hate to have to go down the road to a Marriot. I truly don't think it will come to that....I wouldn't have booked if I thought it did. We are arriving before noon and plan too go to AK for afternoon....that should be plenty of time for them to find us the rooms we need.

No building requested......balcony and connecting rooms are my requests. Should not be TOOOO hard to fill.:confused3

We had made a request on our ressie at the polynesian this past december for a quieter room--tokelau or tahiti building as we have a special needs child who has very sensitive hearing. We checked in and were told that we had a room right next to the luau show--Go Figure? I explained to the CM why we requested the room in the first place and he quickly and efficiently found us a lovely room in tokelau. From my understanding they don't assign rooms until check in. I'm sure you won't have a problem--especially as you'll be at the resort before noon.
Have FUN!

Does your TA know they are medical needs, and not just plain ol requests? There is a seperate department for handling medical needs, so hopefully your TA is aware that they are medical needs, and deal breakers. Connecting CAN be hard to get, so would you be able to make it work if you had connecting but not a balcony?

i am not sure why i should feel the need to explain myself.....but for the sake of argument i will. My FIL is a closed head injury (he was hit by car while raking leaves in his front yard.) because of the injury he has OCD. he sits out on the porch a few hours every day (we live in michigan and he sits out even in winter)....counting (cars, birds, squirrels, etc.....he has to come up with 7 somwhow.) He also wanders (hence the connecting and preferencce of balcony over patio.) Personally, I wuld prefer a patio, but I can't sleep with one eye open.

I called yesterday to make a special request for my daughter who has juvenile rhumetoid arthritis. The Person I spoke with at Disney was especially nice and said she would make sure that the reason behind the request was noted. I am hoping that since there is a medical reason the will go the extra mile and help us out.

I did not want them to label her as we do not need a special access room. I just wanted a building in POR that was a close as possible to the food court.

She is already not happy that she is going to need a wheel chair in the parks and does not want one at the resort also. (which I will have to get is her knees get bad during the trip and we are not close to the main building.)

I would go to your travel agent and ask them to call while you are sitting there to confirm your request. It will give you piece of mind.

Well, you are asking a bunch of strangers questions, and sometimes we need a little more info to understand and be more helpful.:flower3:

Hopefully you will get what you need at the Poly. Otherwise have them check for you and see if one of the DVC resorts has a 2 bedroom villa available. We stayed at a 2-bedroom at the Beach Club that had a balcony, and only one exit door, so that should work for you if the Poly cannot accomodate you. But we did enjoy our stay at the Poly more. Good luck.:)

Again, if it is a medical need, contact or have your TA contact that department. That is the only way to guarantee a room request.

Unfortunately cruise stateroom assignments and resort room assignments are completely different beasts. On a cruise, everyone is arriving and leaving on the same days - square peg in square hole. At a resort, it doesn't work that way. Different people are arriving and departing every day and it is like trying create a mosaic with differently shaped and sized pieces. You keep moving things around until you get the best picture with your tiles filling in most of the space with just thin grout lines in between.

Disney will do their best to accommodate your requests.

To answer the original question asked....

Yes, I would call and double check, for peace of mind if nothing else. It's not going to hurt anything. There HAVE been times before when we called to check or change our reservations and found that they had no record of something we'd requested.

Hope you have fun on your trip. :)

If it were me, I would call to double check that my requests were met. I hope you and your family have a wonderful time! God knows it will be better for your FIL to be in Orlando on a balcony rather than in Michigan. I'm in Minnesota, and I can't imagine sitting outside for long periods of time during the cold winter we're having. Your FIL is lucky that you're looking out for him. :)

Thanks for all the helpful information....I will email my TA and have her double check the requests for me. It really is just a peace of mind thing. I hope I can find time to enjoy a bit of this trip myself.....I am so caught up in the plans for everyone else. I enjoy these boards and the planning, but think I am OverPlanning a bit...:lmao: ....if there is such thing.

I just hope all this time before hands pays off when we get there and everything runs smooth.

Let us know how your trip goes Amy....I'm interested to hear about crowds and weather.

Thanks for explaining it that way....I guess it makes sense (sorta.) My hangup is, my entire stay is prepaid....we will arrive and leave on a given date. I guess the problem occurs when people arrive and decide to add days to their stay.
