California Screamin' Stuck

An overrated experience. I've been walked off of BTMRR and Mr Toad. ToT stopped, but it wasn't a walk-off experience with the ride vehicle going right back to the loading area and everyone was offered a chance to repeat. Kind of boring waiting.

We got stuck on IAS for 20 minutes. 20 MINUTES! Lucky for us we were stuck right before you go back outside, so out of the sun, but still the music, for 20 minutes.

Got stuck on Space once, that was kind of cool when the lights came on and you got to see the tracks. Got stuck on HM once too, but right at the end of the loading zone, so not much of a walk off.

One claim is that the revolver used on the Jungle Cruise can be loaded with a much louder set of blanks to signal a problem with the boat. Did you experience that?

I didn't recall them using the revolvers at all... I can't really remember how the CMs communicated with one another as that was going on.

The main reason for a lot of Screamin's downtime is the launch (and lift hill). The LIMs on the ride overheat (especially during summertime when running 5 trains with 30 second dispatches) or misfire causing a slow launch and forcing the ride to e-stop a train on the first hill. Another big reason, during the summer, the Anaheim power grid sometimes glitches causing the ride to e-stop.

I know on Big Thunder, you can't ride if you can't do stairs. I had stair skip pass a few times and they always asked me "if you had to walk off could you do stairs" Which I could (it would be painful but I could do it). Wouldn't you know it the ride broke down and we had to walk off. Got some great "illegal" photos from that experience.

That is not true. My wife was in an ECV for our last trip about 6 weeks ago due to a severe muscle pull and we were still allowed to ride. They never asked about stairs for a possible walk off.

In the four days we were at Disneyland/California Adventure, California Screamin' was down more than it was up, I think. We tried to ride so many times and finally got on once on our last day. At least we were never stuck on it.

Thanks for that information! The one CM said that the big sun doesn't like the real sun but wouldn't elaborate. It was very sunny and hot while we were there, so I can see the overheating or the power grid glitching as reasons.

We were in the park at the same time as the original poster and saw two trains stopped from our vantage point in front of Ariel's Undersea Adventure. We had already ridden CS a few times that day, so it was interesting to see. I would not want to be stuck in the sun. :)
We've also had to walk off Big Thunder Mountain before. That was interesting. ;)

I was riding at night one time when there was an issue. Not really a breakdown, but a delay/boat coordination issue. The CM seemed to be using the spotlight as a signal. She kept turning it on and off pointed in the direction of the dock. That wouldn't work during the day so an audio cue would make sense. I'm not sure why they don't just use radios though.

Just relaying my story. If need would she have been able to do stairs? I honestly do not know how someone who could not walk would be able to evacuate.

It would have been ridiculously slow, but she could have possibly done them. She wasn't able to walk for more then a few minutes period due to the strain, but you're also opening up possible discrimination claims. How would they evacuate anyone on any ride that needed a wheelchair for example. The only stairs questions we ever got over those few days was for the queue's themselves, not for an evacuation.
