California Screamin' question

I hope someone can help me figure this out. What happens if you have a backpack with you? Is there an area where you can store it while you ride it (like a shelf or something) or do they ask you to take it with you on the ride? I was pretty flabbergasted at WDW when I was told to take my backpack on RNRC. Nothing happened as I put my legs through the straps after I had put it down but honestly, I did not feel very good going through those inversions with a backpack stuck between you legs that pretty much was not really secured at all. I can understand you have to take it with you because getting on and off is at different platforms altogether but yeah, I didn't feel very good about that.

So how do they handle that at DCA?

Small items can go in the pouch bag mounted on the ride car.
The backpack I carry doesn't fit, so I put it at my feet. I've ridden CS too many times to count and it has never been a problem.

I am not feeling very good about this since I have my camera gear in the backpack but I think if it was indeed a problem, Disney wouldn't allow it. Now I at least can mentally prepare myself for it - not like at RNRC where I got up to the car and they told me just to stick it between my legs...

I have a lot of camera gear in my bag and never had trouble. Of course, I might be more of a risk-taker than you are. My camera stays out on that ride, although there's an assortment of extra lenses in my bag.

Yeah THAT I certainly wouldn't do. BTMRR is fine. Splash Mountain is fine. EE is fine. But that? With my Gopro maybe But not with the DSLR...

Yep, you just keep it with you. There aren't shelves or any areas to put it while you ride, so there's really no other choice. It's just one loop on CS.

I believe that centrifugal force keeps your items at your feet. I put my backpack at my feet with my foot through the strap. I've never had a problem.

Love that photo, mom2rtk! . My bag never budged from the floor between my legs - I too put my foot through a strap - pricey camera gear came out fine. I was nervous the first ride as well!

you take your belongings on with you.
california screamin has small pouches but for me it was just easier to loop one strap through my leg instead of trying to stuff it in the puch.

Its not going anywhere out of the footwells. The g-forces will keep it in the ride vehicle. I also use my DSLR on the ride. No fear of loss whatsoever.

Just enjoy the ride worry free, and snap some pics along the way.

I wrap the strap around my wrist several times. I have a black rapid (cross body) strap, so there's also still enough length to leave it around my neck.

The tough part is when the centrifugal force pushes my arm (and camera) around half way through the loop.

I have the strap around my neck, but its not long enough to really wrap it around my wrist and still be able to do the shots I do. I just hold onto it. With $4k in my hands, I'm holding on tight.

I have the Black Rapid tether strap. It's a small security (back-up) strap that goes from the tripod anchor bolt up to the regular strap attachment loop on the camera. My hand slips through there just perfectly and helps me grip the camera more securely.
