Off to California tomorrow so won't be on the boards much for the next three weeks. Will try and visit when I can so if anyone has any questions about the area from SF to LA down Route 1 please ask and I shall try to find the answer.

I lived in San Jose for 10 years (DH is a native Californian!). I spent many a happy hour driving down the coastal highway. The scenery is stunning. I am sure that you will thoroughly enjoy it.

Highway 1 is wonderful - unless you're the driver! There is a stretch of about 10 miles where it seems like there is no a single straight piece of road - just bend after bend after bend after... well, you get my meaning. As the driver there is simply no way to enjoy the sceneray as you drive along as you have to be so focused on the road in front of you! Make you you take frequent stops to admire the view is my advice...

Penny, where in SF did you stay, and what did you visit? Although neither Jane nor I are great fans of city visits, we certainly enjoyed our time in SF and I'm sure we'll return one day.
