California Grill...what do we get?

We are thinking about trying California Grill for our anniversary trip in August. Originally I had planned to go to Jiko & Artist's Point, but in my excitment, overlooked the fact that both of those are signature restaurants. (And therefore, take 2 credits. I don't know how I didn't know that!) So, since we were going to use 2 credits anyway, why not try California Grill?

Here's my question. (Really, it's hubby's.) With the signature's do you get a little bit more? Or are they 2 credits because they're nicer restaurants? Hubby says that he only wants to try California Grill if he can get an appetizer AND sushi AND first course with his main course and dessert. :crazy2: It's a bit much for me, but it's his anniversary too. :lovestruc

:thanks:

If your using the regular dining plan than you get an entree and dessert. You can have sushi as your entree. If your doing the deluxe plan than you get an app, entree and dessert. Most of the Sushi can be your app except the Snake in the Grass and 1 other. If your Husband likes Sushi, I would definitely reccomend Cali Grill. Some of the best Sushi I have had throughout the world!!!!!!

. . . not usually
. . . the "volume" of food is about the same a 1TS

Or are they 2 credits because they're nicer restaurants?
. . . nicer environments
. . . also, the menu items are more unique

. . . nope

They are nicer restaurants. California Grill is a great place for an anniversary and you can even see Wishes from up there which might add even more to your anniversary.

I assume you are on the regular dining plan? If so, you would have to pay OOP for the appetizer and sushi. Even with the DxDP you only get one appetizer, so you would have to pay OOP for the sushi, or you would have to get the sushi as your app.

We really enjoyed CG when we went and I would recommend the flatbreads, goat cheese ravioli and pork tenderloin with goat cheese polenta.

We just had dinner Friday night at California Grill. As pp said on the DXDP you get an appetizer, entree and dessert. 2 of the sushi's are not included and they are the "Snake in the grass" and the Yoshi's sampler. However, you can have them as an entree if you like. I had the flat iron steak flatbread as an appetizer and the yoshi's for my entree and believe me it was A LOT of food!!!! DD18 and I both agree that the california roll is the best we've had.

Cali would be a great anniversary dinner, the service alone is worth it. Have fun!

If you have regular DDP you won't get an appetizer at any of the signature restaurants-not at Jiko or AP either.

Sorry - no appetizers with regular DDP, signature or not. There's a few ways to get them - three-course meals at certain restaurants (no signatures), fixed price meals (Akershus or CRT), Fantasmic Dining Package.

First let me say that we love Cali Grill!! We have done it as DxDP, DDP and out of pocket and personally I would do this as an out of pocket so that you can get just what you want. Yes it's expensive but I think it's so worth it!

The sig dining is enjoyable to us just because it doesn't have the mass produced feeling of SOME of the disney restaurants
