I've wanted to try a nice signature restaurant, but I've been afraid to b/c I didn't want my kids to bother anyone (not that they misbehave a lot or anything). Most people seem to say that California Grill is a good choice w/ kids. I wasn't able to get a time during fireworks. I got one around 5:30, which might be a better time with the kids. I was just wondering if it is worth it if you're not going to see the fireworks. I know you have a nice view of the castle. Is the food worth the 2 credits? How about the filet of beef?

Thanks!

If you have never been, it is worth it for the view. The food is also very good. Much better that 2 credits in the Castle. 5:30 is a great time because it is quieter and I think the servers are more relaxed and efficient. Don't worry about your children as there are always families with children dining there. Don't forget, if you want to return to CG to see the fireworks, just save you receipt and return to the second floor podium before the fireworks start and they will bring you back up to the observation deck.

I think it's worth it for the food alone. Keep in mind that the time of year can affect your view at 5:30, though. The shades will be drawn if the sun is hitting the windows.

I actually prefer Ca Grill when it's not fireworks time. The restaurant is less chaotic.

We went when it was not fireworks time and had a great meal. They will give you a receipt to bring back to watch the fireworks if you want to, but we preferred more park time over going back to the Contemporary to see the fireworks. If the fireworks are your main concern then the dessert party is wonderful option.

I like the early times better there. The view is much better in the daylight, and only one section of the restaurant really has a good fireworks view anyway. We like getting as close to the first seating (5:30) as possible, which leaves us done with dinner in plenty of time to get a good vantage for the fireworks at MK if Wishes is in the plans for the evening.

I think the whole fireworks from the CR thing is vastly overrated in general, because unlike watching from the other monorail resorts (Poly beach, Narcoosees) where the fireworks still line up with the castle, from the Contemporary they are more over Space Mountain. It is a totally different angle and one that I don't think does the show justice, though obviously others feel differently.

I like earlier times better, too. I like having a more relaxed meal, being able to actually see the details of that awesome view and I love being able to catch a sunset from that point of view!! During earlier times there are less children having meltdowns due to overtiredness. The food there is amazing. It is my favorite restaurant at WDW, although I am biased as we had our wedding there. My niece and nephew gobbled up the food there, too. They loved the filet. So, I think it is a great place to go and maybe the earlier time is a blessing in disguise.
