California Grill--should I or shouldn't I?

We are at DisneyWorld once a year, and when we do we hit many of the signature restaurants. One that has been off the rotation for the last 4-5 years has been California Grill. The last visits we had seemed crowded, noisy and the service a bit hurried--as in lets turn this table over quickly for the next set of diners. At these prices we would like a bit more relaxing, enjoyable dining experience. (I know--its DisneyWorld, and there will be a lot of kids--that's baked into the cake already, but when a "fine dining" restaurant starts to resemble a gigantic playroom, I hit the pause button)

My question--has anything changed? I know the prices will be higher, but how is the food? the service? the ambiance? I believe they rearranged the place to fit in more tables, which may or may not be a good thing.

Any comments about recent experiences would be appreciated!

My toddler and I had a fantastic meal there last month. My review is in my current dining review!

To me, it's more of a fireworks destination with food. We get apps, sushi and drinks and watch the fireworks.

I think it's always a busy place. Not particularly relaxing, but still nice. Love the view.

No. If you want appetizers and a view, do it. We expect professional wait staff when a steak is $49. The bartender couldn't fix a proper martini and the cook sent out a very rare filet, twice, when I ordered it medium. Our waitress never checked on our table. There are so many other nice food selections. Save your money.

Also, they pulled the shades down while we ate (early dinner) and we couldn't see the view.

I've had nothing but good experiences there over the past 4 years. A couple years ago the kitchen messed up our order and got it ready right before the fireworks. The waiter immediately apologized and had them do it again. Great food and an interesting menu.

We've always had a great time there. The food is good. The atmosphere unique and the best place for Wishes.

My wife and I had dinner there in August, it was our first time and it was awesome!!!! Great food and a wicked awesome view for Wishes!!!!

I have a 9:20 PM reservation. Does any know what my chances are of getting a window table?

Not very likely - anyone with an earlier reservation isn't going to leave those tables until after the fireworks. We waited until after the fireworks were over and then we could get one. We still had to wait a few extra minutes.
