a 21 month old and an adult who loves steaks, but is a pretty picky eater. We want to do something different :thumbsup2 and a nice meal but cannot decide. Anyone have any suggestions other than these? Please any advice appreciated. We usually end up doing our safe favorites so help us change!

I am a picky eater, and I love YSH. I was torn between that and CG for our 10th aniversary, but after looking over the CG menu, which looked a bit funky, and knowing how much I enjoyed YSH the year before we went with YSH. I have now dined their 3 times and everything has been perfect. I cant speak from personal experience on the CG, but just from reading the menu, I'm not sure it wold be the best option for a picky eater, like myself.

i vote for the YSH, I think their food is good and it does accomidate a picky eater, ask me how I know that, I can be picky at times myself  :rotfl2:

We have recently been to both (just last month). While people rave about YSH I found it to be just o.k. We love a great steak and money is not an issue. I am comparing YSH to some of our favorite steak houses (Morton's, The Palm, and Rothmanns - a steak house by me). We were very disappointed...just does not compare...however our overall bill was much less than the steakhouses I mentioned. Our bill was $175.00 before tip. The quality of food was just fair...and we have had some great meals in WDW.

That being said, we always dine at CG...it is one of our favorites. We have dined there too many times to count and it is consistantly excellent. The food and service is always excellent. They will be happy to prepare anything you wish. They also note this on the bottom of the menu, so do not feel like you are putting anyone out. Also, Citrico's will do the same. They will make you anything you wish. If you want plain steak and potatoes...they will do it for you--both restaurants. If I had to choose I would tell you to go to CG and order the food the way you like it...you don't have to eat the funky food. We also love the bar at CG..the view is just beauriful and it's so realaxing to sit at the bar, take in a great view and an anticipate a great meal. The food is actually not as funky as you think...but at first it can seem intimidating.

Hope this helps you!

I vote for California Grill. While Yachtsman used to be one of our favorties we no longer end up going there as lately the service is slow and it's just okay. If you want a really great steak, try Shula's over at The Dolphin or The Swan, now that's great.

I would vote for CG...especially after what goofie4goofy posted. Originally, I was going to say that CG may not be the best place for your picky eater, but if you are willing to order things the way you want...I know that may be intimidating to some...then you can't beat the atmosphere and the view. If you stay for Wishes and watch from the balcony, it is even better.

The only other thing I would caution you with CG is that the meals are rather extended. The service is great and attentive, but we were there for well over two hours when we dined there in December. Fortunately, my DS6 and DD4 liked their food and were perfectly content to color for a long time.
