California Grill or Spirit of ALoha?

Another dining question. If I can get the Spirit of ALoha dinner show instead of California grille is it worth switching. I want to know as much about the luau as possible. We have the free dinind and either will be 2 TS each. So what would you do? We are staying at Poly. Also do they roast a pig at Spirit of Aloha, because that would make me not hungry at all. I"m not Vegan but I don't like seeing roast animals. Thanks in advance.

I haven't been to the Spirit of Aloha in a LOOONG time, but I don't believe there is any roasting of pigs (or anything else) there. Actually it's pretty basic fare and if food is as important as the entertainment, I'd go to California Grill in a heartbeat.

Two completely different dining experiences...I'd also go with CG, we went to Spirit of Aloha last year, we plan to go again sometime but CG is a must for every trip!

We dine at the California Grill (meal made to order) every family trip, while the luau (food made in mass production in advance) is not a true Hawaiian luau people first thing of when they come across this dining option, but more of a polynesian culture dinner show with two shows each night of the week which it is held providing a group dining experience.

If you have younger children I would go for Spirit of Aloha. It is a more relaxed atmosphere and the kids get up and dance too. California Grill is wonderful but I wouldn't take my kids there(7, 10, 12).

We have done California Grill on our last trip with DD then 3 and it was great, but my DD is good in restaurants. Now DS is a little more unpredictable sometimes he doesn't make a peep, and others times he doesn't want to sit for 2 hours. Hopefully that will get better in next 5 months. My DH wants California Grill and I want to go to the Luau, we can't do both. So I have to make up my mind. Thanks you.
