I have looked over the menu and honestly all we want is Sushi and desert. Should I feel guilty about having an ADR for dinner. True confessions: we want to get dressed up and enjoy the fireworks. I trust your opinions, how do you feel about doing this? Our ADR is for 9:15.

There is absolutely no problem at all with this plan. Go ahead and enjoy the sushi, have a dessert and enjoy the fireworks.

I couldn't agree more with goofy. We did sushi and dessert on our last trip and it was perfectly fine.

I went for 1 sushi roll, 1 flatbread, and 1 children's meal with my 2 children recently. We did have dessert, and received absolutely no condescension. In fact, servers were gracious. We had an incredible experience, and only had an $88 check. (We did purchase our drinks in the lounge first.)

You could turn it into a monorail tour and hit a few lounges in other hotels for appetizers before your California Grill ADR. One of my favorite things to do!
I was planning on parking at the contemporary. We do have an ADR and it would be completely within the new parking guidelines. How much time do you think I could squeeze in before the resie? I would love to try Trader Sam's too.

If the sushi were $1.99 maybe but I think I remember the roll we ordered was $26 so go right ahead.

Our last two trips were a disappointment for various reasons so we will have no problem with an app and dessert.

What is the best time for an add to watch the fireworks?

I would also like to know this - We have an ADR for 7:15 on the night of our anniversary.. would we be able to take our time and catch them?

Typically a 3 course meal takes our family 90 - 120 minutes since dinner at a Signature restaurant is much more leisurely paced so we make our reservation 75 - 90 minutes before Wishes is scheduled for the evening. Often we are between entree and dessert so we'll order dessert, let the server know we want to go out on the deck to view fireworks and dessert will be served after we come back to our table. The servers are very used to people who plan to watch Wishes so they are very adept at pacing the meal appropriately.

Go and enjoy!! I was just there for my birthday weekend and it was so fun to be there for the fireworks and dressed up! We actually saw a bride and groom there! I felt guilt that we had a better table! In restrospect, as much as I liked the filet I wish I had stuck to just apps and dessert! The butterscotch creme brûlée was great!! Have fun!

We are always dressed for the meal because we take a break to shower and change before dinner. I know this is going to set off a heated discussion but I wish everyone did the same. On two separate occasions I saw entire families in athletic wear or park wear. Unfortunately, one of those families had unruly children otherwise I might not have noticed. The other family I noticed because the father had a baseball cap on. There probably are more but those are the two I noticed.

best plan is to get your ADR 45 minutes prior to wishes start.

That gives you plenty of time to get a seat if they are running late, and you wont be too early (finish your meal) should they be on time. You may or may not get a good table on the window. If you get stuck in the back, then just walk out to the observation deck.

have fun.

Sorry in advance for piggie backing on this thread...My family (9) has reservations for 7:05 next Saturday night. Can we linger long enough to catch the fireworks or is that too long?

Go on disneyworld.com and look up the hours of when Wishes is scheduled to happen. With 9 people, you may be able to. Or just let your server know you'd like to go out onto the catwalk to watch them.

Ok, I looked up the time for wishes and it is at 10:00. No way will it take us 3 hours to eat! Darn it-this is my birthday dinner and I was really looking forward to watching the fireworks from up there!

I guess my 9:00 should be good based on above advice

Maybe ask your server if it's possible to come back and go on to the Catwalk to watch the fireworks. We've actually done it without reservations. Or if your party is all adults, maybe have a drink or two at the bar there to hang around. I'm sure just letting your server know you want to see the fireworks will help. :) Our reservation is for 7:15, but it's just the two of us. So we will be making other plans to see Wishes, but I say give it a shot, and see what happens. :)

To occupy a table for more than 2 hours to watch the fireworks is unnecessary. You are welcome to return with your dinner receipt and return to the rooftop to watch the fireworks if you have eaten there earlier in the evening. Take that extra time to visit one of the other monorail hotels or do some exploring around the hotel. Although we have eaten at CG many times, we have never actually been seated at a table that was good for fireworks watching. We always go outside anyway.

Thank you! This is exactly what we will do!
