Sorry that you weren't able to make it to the Price is Right taping. When we visited LA a couple of years ago, we weren't able to get in either. At least you were able to see the David Spade Show, even if it wasn't quite the same. ;) My DH and I ran into David Spade in Vegas last year...he was much shorter in person than I would have imagined...:lmao:

Your pics are great, as always! :thumbsup2

We could barely see the sign it was so hazy during our visit there...you can sorta see it in the second to last shot~

We cheated, the next day we got a group shot in front of Universal's Hollywood sign "backdrop." :ssst:

Thank you for the compliment, it means alot to me...and yes, for the most part we really did have a good trip.

During pre-planning a friend of mine told me it could be done on our Hollywood day, the waitress confirmed that for us by telling us how to get there...too bad her drive time was a bit off~We almost missed the Spade show! We made it back with literally minutes to spare.

Next time I'd like to actually stay in Santa Monica for a spell, it is very pretty there.

yes we were :)

and :worship: Thank you again~

He is a little guy isn't he?

I kind of expected that, I've been watching him since his days on SNL.

and thank YOU for the kudos...I love being a photographer and thrive on all the comments and compliments~

Thank you All!!!

...I still have three more sets to show you all - Universal Studios, Sea World in San Diego and the San Diego Zoo - and then alas my trip will be done...

I'll be back~

Still enjoying the pics Colleen! :woohoo:

The next day, we are up again bright and early, and headed back to LA. It's Universal Studios Time!

We park in their parking garage and head thru Citywalk to get to the park~

It was suggested to me that we hit the Backlot Tour first, it's very popular and very long, hence the lines can get very long...

This is the view of the backlot from where we loaded onto the tram for the tour~

We pass by the bungalows first, this is the one that Hitchcock used to tape his shows from. His face is still on the door~

If you look in the distance, that looks like the church steeple from sixth sense, the real church is in old town Philadelphia~

The studio says they dress up and dress down all of these streets as needed. The art department makes each set just different enough that you cannot recognize the set from one movie to the next.

These next two I recognized from Back to the Future. The area's been redressed for Ghost Whisperer (I think.)

The tour continued inside of one of the studio sets, they told us it was a "live" set...guess who tried to rock us off the rail?

It's cool to peek inside of some of the studios~

There are some movie vehicles in the lot as well, the Deathmobile was one of my favorites~

DSC_0552.jpg

Next up was a demo with some of the fast and furious cars..

first was a bullet shot test~

DSC_0554.jpg

then the flames~

DSC_0555.jpg

then the explosions with the flying cars~

after the cars fly at you...

they come over to the tram and take a bow~

...next up, more universal...

Ohhhh, I love the Backlot Tour. Last time we visited, they were setting up an area to film some of the scenes from "Pirates of the Caribbean," or at least that is what we were told! :) Looking forward to more...

Wow - I am LOVING all of your pictures Colleen!!

David Spade has a show???

:lmao:

Too bad you missed out on TPIR...would have been cool to say you saw Bob right before he retired. And to hear him remind you - in person - to spay or neuter your pet would be cool!:rotfl2:

The whole backlot tour is interactive~

I recommend you be aware at EVERY turn...
I almost got a soaked camera when this happened!

I looked right...

We move on to some of the other areas that have been redressed many times over...some of this was used for POTC, and King Kong and what was the Caesar movie with Juaquin Phoenix :scratchin...

there was a movie where the kids lived in the prop warehouse too...Lord help me if I could remember half the names of the movies our tour covered~

King Kong scares me to death. I hated the ride at Universal Orlando. It was so creepy to see that giant thing move and look right at me! Frankenstein scares the beejeesus out of me, but that's another story).

Luv the pics.
