My husband and I (both WDW vets) thought it would be a good time to visit Disneyland since Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland is under construction (waiting until it is finished to go back) but he read somewhere that DCA is going to be under construction as well. We were thinking about going in Feb. 2011. How much of DCA will be under construction at the time? Do you think that this is a good time for first timers to go or should we wait? :confused3 Thank you all for your advice :thumbsup2

DCA has been under construction for the past two years. It won't be done until 2012

Thank you for your quick response. I didn't know that DCA had been under construction for the past two years. I guess I was worried that with construction some of the rides/lands might be closed until the construction was finished (like the Magic Kingdom Fanasyland construction).

I would wait until 2012 if possible. Carsland will be opening sometime in 2012. There will be A LOT of construction in DCA this coming year.

It's not like MK where a few rides are down. The entire place is getting a re-do makeover.

An entire new land is being built. New rides are being constructed. Walkways are being changed. The entrance plaza is under construction. There's work being done throughout the park.

Lots of things are up and running, but it's not like a few things are down. It's more of a case where major sections of the park are being changes.

The biggest problem with going in February is that Splash will be down for a multi month rehab.

Other than that it's a good time to visit DL since except for the 3 day weekend in Feb it's a quiet month.

In DCA the biggest problem is what they will do when. Carsland will take a while and if it wasn't for the tall mountains it would barely intrude on a visit. There is a big wall around the little mermaid, though what you see over the wall is looking fairly finished. At the east end of DCA is a long wall as they redo MM into Goofy's Sky school and redo a couple resturants next to it. What we don't know for sure is what the entrance will look like. It like Mainstreet in that you go in on a street between buidlings. In about 10 days we will know if this is walled up, if half is, or if an alternate entrance is being used. Also note that for an odd reason construction walls in DLR are very well decorated and something you will want to take pictures off, In wdw disney doesn't seem to care as long as they don't look like plain plywood so they are paitned and decorated with a couple sayings or concept art on every 100 feet of wall.

We are going in Feb 2011 and yes, a lot of California Adventure will be under construction. We don't mind as we've been many times before and will likely go again when it is all completed. If as WDW regulars, you are thinking this will be maybe the only time you try out Disneyland, then I think you should wait. The renovation (or reconstruction) of California Adventure looks like it will be fantastic in a couple of years when it is all done.

Anyone have pictures?
