We have priority seatings for California Grill and Flying Fish, and I'm trying to figure out what to pack. The Disney Dining operator said no jeans, etc. so is it casual or dressy? Do men need sportcoats? Help?

We ate at the CG in Sept and I wore linen pants and a nice button down shirt and my DW wore a nice sundress and we were kind of overdressed. There were plenty of people in shorts and tee shirts as well as some more dressed up, but I saw no suit jackets or ties. Although I did see a family with three young children that obviously had come strait from the parks, (the husband was in flip-flops and a tank-top) and the guy at the desk on the 2nd floor told them the bar area was full and they could not go up. However, when we got up to the restaurant there was plenty of room at the bar, we got two seats immediately. I don't know it the guy at the desk was screening people, or if he was anticipating alot of people with PS's. (The family did not have a PS, they just wanted to have a few drinks at the bar).

i wore jean capris, sneakers, and a grumpy sweatshirt to CG once...we came right from the parks (it was a surprise meal for me.) I, personally, felt underdressed...but we were treated with EXCELLENT service while we were there.

you'll see people in theme park atire, and people more dressed up...it really runs the gamut.

they DO ask that men don't wear tank tops though.

We eat at FF each trip and I have seen it all. The majority of the crowd wears "nice" casual, however, I have seen jeans and nice polo shirts and many, many shorts. I usually wear a sun dress or nice slacks depending on the weather. As for CG we try to eat there at least every other visit. It does seem to me that the dress code is observed a bit more strongly there but I have also seen the usual Disney t-shirts and shorts in there too! Its Disney, if you are not in a swimsuit or a tank top I don't think it matters.

Go enjoy!!

Actually jeans would be fine as well.
The only real prohibitions are tank tops on men, and swim suits.
Last trip at CG I saw a fellow in white shorts, Hawaiian print shirt, sandals w/no socks.

Our entire group actually wore shorts and nice shirts. We did not feel under dressed or over dressed. We came over from FW, we did clean up, didn't come straight from the parks. Our dinner was perfect, we had our 11 month DGD with us and they treated her like a princess. Very enjoyable evening.:D

They do state when making ps that dinner is smart casual. Basically no tank tops on men. Chris and I wore shorts and polo shirts. Honestly - there were folks there dressed very messy etc. We were also told that Jiko and Narcoosses (sp) were smart casual. It is Disney World after all and you have to understand that you get all types there.
