This is a two-part question:
1) where is the reservation podium - 2nd or 4th floor? The person on the phone said 2nd floor but in the UG I remember something about 4th floor?
2) we have 2 sons 14 & 12 who want to eat there so they can see the fireworks but are not overly thrilled with the menu. They said they would be just as happy with kids meals. Can you order from the child's menu for a 12 and 14 yo?

The check in is on the 2nd floor. I doubt there would be a problem but it seems like an expensive idea if it is only to watch the fireworks. The view inside the MK is better in my opinion and if you aren't too keen on the menu I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. I have eaten there many times and now don't go during the fireworks. I love the food and the service, I would highly recommend the California Grill but not for the fireworks.

Generally, restaurants will allow adults and teens to order off the child menu, but some will charge an adult price. (They'll also typically provide more food in such a case, and not as an option.)

Thanks for the quick response. My husband and I certainly want to go for the food, atmosphere, service, ambiance, etc. The fireworks are just an added bonus for us.

We debated whether to leave the 14 and 12 year old at the resort, but my motherly instincts say they should come with us, and so they are the only ones who will be attending with the fireworks being the first priority. This was the mom-persuasion that talked them into accompanying us "willingly".

We ate there last week - loved it... there was a table of young 12 - 16 yr olds, that ordered mostly from the kids menu, no problem, we ordered for dd off the kids menu too - we viewed the fireworks from their 'balcony' area - there are 2 outside balconies - go with the one less traveled - the far right one - the music is very loud, the view fantastic!!

While you will find children at CG, they NEVER look happy!!! It is really a restaurant for children. (I know, I know...a few of you have children who love it; but I really think these children are the minority.) CG is my very favorite place at WDW for dinner. However, you often have to wait quite a while for a table; and service can be very slow. For most adults, the wait is worthwhile. However, I know my children expect their food almost immediately. Needless to say, I don't take my kids there. If you're just looking for a place to view the fireworks, try the viewing balcony on the shop level. We were there Saturday night (when MK was PACKED), and there weren't more than a dozen or so people in the whole large area. The music is played there, too.

My 13 yr old orders from the child's menu all the time with never a blink of an eye from the server. She just can't eat an adult-sized portion nor likes what she sees on some of the menus. If the kid's menu isn't appealing at that moment, she has been known to order just a salad or appetizer as the main meal. Enjoy!

The Contemporary is a bit confusing when getting off the monorail. The monorail station is on the 4th floor so you have to go to the 2nd floor to check in...remember to go down!

Your kids will definatley love the flat bread appetizers. They are pizzas and 1 is definately a meal...but is an appetizer when shared. They do have tomato and mozzarella which is PIZZA! The chef will also make anything they wish...just ask!

Your whole family will just love this restaurant...one of our must do's!
