Cali Grill review

We have tried Cali Grill twice, once in the main dining room and once in the wine room. Both areas were chaotic the nights we were there, and, while the food was good, it just wasn't good enough to put up with the kids chasing one another, babies crying, and service that wasn't up to par. We have found that Citricos has the food, service, and atmosphere that, combined, resulted in a fine dining experience.

My son and I are spending a week in Disney this April.... does anyone have any suggestions for more upscale restaurants that have a nice ambiance? ( No Victoria and Alberts.... not till he's a little older and can appreciate it! ) I've heard Narcoossees is nice... have any of you been there?

And just where DO these people find Chick Fil A baseball hats? haha! I'll think of this post and laugh quietly to myself whenever I drive past a Chick Fil A.....

I have no idea why Cali Grill even pretends to have a dress code. The night we went there in Oct for my son and his wife's first wedding anniversary we may as well have been in MCd's. It was chaos. I'm sure that even if you turned up in shorts and bare feet they would have let you in.
For this reason I wouldn't bother with it again. Food was good but for $475 I would have liked a more special feel to the place.

Could not agree more, such a shame :sad2:

it really is ashame that places like that allow it to go on, while i've not been to the california grill if i did happen to go and there were kids throwing food, people not wearing proper dress etc, it would really spoil my dinner experience!

Nicely said. And what I really don't understand is why CG allows it. We can't possibly be in the minority when it comes to being offended by this behavior, can we? It doesn't take a great deal of effort to step up your game for the three hours you are there. A decent pair of pants with no holes, and a golf shirt, and there you go. Even a nice pair of Levis would be appreciated.

And, of course, please remove your Chick-Filet baseball cap upon entering the dining area. All the best people do.:thumbsup2

I, too, am cracking up at this because I feel the exact same way! The clothing, the noise, the wild children.
BTW, I bet you are having a great day with ECU beating Houston!:thumbsup2

I have been to Narcoosees and it is a nice restaurant, but not my favorite for fine dining at WDW. My suggestion would be Jiko. Excellent and unique food and wine, unobtrusive but spot-on service, and a quieter atmosphere.

The Houston win was pretty sweet, I must say. And thanks for the kudos.

I think the view of the fireworks from CG are unbeatable, and for that reason I would go back. But the dining experience itself was marred because of the whole dress code thing. I realize it's a petty thing, but it did bother me.

And congrats on UNC's bowl bid. Nice you are playing in Charlotte, and I noticed the game is sold out at 73,000 seats. That's not easy to do, so color me impressed. Good luck. And don't ever tell anybody I said this, but

Go Tarheels!
