DH and I want to do a quick get away together to celebrate some weight loss- thinking a Vancouver to Cali fall cruise as we can drive to the Vancouver’s port (4 hours away) I know DCL sails out of Vancouver for Alaska so figured they had a Cali Coast cruise-

DCL 4 day, 1 stop in Astoria- $2263 US for 2 for regular interior which is $2985 Canadian (before cc exchange fees)
Princess 4 day, 1 stop in Astoria- $573 US for 2 in a large interior, $756 Canadian...and finishes in LA so we can add a day at DL before we come home and still be way under...I guess we will be going princess if we do this...

We've done a very similar cruise on Princess! Just last May, we flew down to LA for four days (did 2 at Disneyland, which I love) and then did a 3 day Princess cruise (no stops) from LA to Vancouver. I think we did the entire week trip for $5,000 CAD or so, for five of us. I like Princess. I thought the MDR food was actually better than Disney's.

Holy cow, I can't believe how much that cruise has increased in price! The Vancouver to San Diego cruise was our first Disney cruise we did, back in 2015 (it stopped in Victoria that year). We paid $1800US for the 4 of us for a standard inside cabin. I would probably choose Princess, too.....

Of the 3 lines I’ve done I’d actually rank the food:
1. Holland America - we were so surprised how good the food was considering other aspects of the cruise- good cuts of meet, homemade sauces and that. We had a great chat with the sous chef- he loved being on the small ship and actually being able to cook. He’d previously been on DCL and did not have good things to say...
2. Royal
3. DCL

Funny, I haven’t tried HAL or Royal, but have cruised carnival, Princess and NCL and frankly all of those were generally better than DCL, except for at Palo. I’ve heard such good things about HAL though! Good to know!
