Looking to rent a car in Calgary for 2 days, Aug 6 and 7. Prices are really high. Anyone know of any discount codes? I have not found anything yet that brings it down much. We're talking $60 per day! I paid $66 total for 3 days in Vegas last month.

Thanks
John

My Mom is going to Calgary around the same time and asked if I could find her a car deal. I couldn't the prices are crazy. She is there for a week and the cheapest I found was $400. I am hoping they will drop a couple weeks out.

All I can think of is google and see if any promotional codes come up to try and use. CAA members and such have special rates at some companies. Good Luck!

Depending on where you have to go, a cab maybe easier and their transit system is decent. Especially if you have to go downtown, sometimes its easier on the C-Train!

Hi John,
I was just on nationalcar.com and for the 2 days I saw $104 for economy and $114 for full size. No vans were on the site.
Is that the pricing you saw? If you saw significantly higher, perhaps join their Emerald Club (frequent renter club) and see what happens after that.

Thank you. I will check that out tonite. I usually find National one of the most expensive, so had not been there yet. I will have to dig out my old Emerald ID number. I was seeing $160 or so for economy cars. Tried several different codes I found online but nothing brought the price down more that $10.

Need the car to spend the weekend in Banff/Lake Louise before work starts on the Monday. Would return the car at the airport and take the shuttle downtown.

Cheers
John

Welcome to overpriced Calgary. Your best bet is to book last minute.

The prices probably reflect demand. Lots of people go for weekend get-aways to the mountains, and a rental car is the most economical way to go.
