A friend is looking at renting a home here. We have never stayed there personally and don't know anyone who has. Hoping someone here can shed some light on this community, is it nice? how far from disney? I told her it looked to be about a 20 min drive but she says the savings outweigh the extra distance. Hoping someone is knowledgeable of this area. Thanks kindly:goodvibes

Anyone?:confused3 She only has till Saturday to decide. The owner did mention something about a new highway that went in that helped with the distance to disney. We stayed in Sandy Ridge a couple years ago and I do remember them building a highway but does it help when getting to and from this development(calabay parc @ Tower Lake) from disney?

Well, I have not stayed at Calabay Park, but I have stayed very close to there. We stayed at the Solana Resort last year. We don't mind being a little out of the way. From the Solana Resort, it took about 10-12 minutes to get to the Sherbeth Road short cut and then another 5-10 minutes from there depending on which park we were headed to. I have not used the new road, so I am not sure if that would be quicker or not. If they want a really close community, they might be disappointed. We like being further out because we want a big house with lots of amenities for a lower price. There is a Publix a couple of miles down the road near the junction of 192 and 27. There is an Applebees, a Chinese food place and a pizza place in the same shopping center as the Publix. Less than a mile north from the junction of 192 and 27 is a Wal Mart Super Center.
In case they haven't seen the villa location map, here is a link:

Calabay Park and the Towers are different places .The towers is down closer to I4 .

I have not stayed in Calabay Parc but have been in many of the homes.
Their homes had some nice floor plans. Very beautiful setting. I think your friend would be happy with the resort and home. It is located south of 192 on 27 south.

If they do not mind the extra travel it would be lovely I am sure.

Thanks everyone. And thanks for the map! I might need that myself LOL. No they don't mind being out of the way a bit at all. She is actually getting it for right @ $100 a night for a 4 bedroom so I told her she got a great deal. Thats with tax and everything. Glad to hear the homes are nice. Do any of you know anything about the new highway?

The new toll highway is 429 also know as The Western Way when you take it to Disney. Once they get on 192 they would go about 5 miles and take the exit for 429 north. I think it's a $1.00 toll. (just past Orange Lake area)
I'm sure there's directions for Disney once they get on 429. It's probably the first exit (for The Western Way) and it takes you into Disney on the western side and connects to World Drive in the Swan/Dophin area I think. I haven't done it but we drove by the exit in March when we were there. We stayed in Indian Creek so didn't need to go in that way.
Others that know more about it can corrected me or give more info.

I've stayed both unsite and off in a villa. I did stay at Calabay park. It a beautiful community. Your friend will not be disappointed. And it's not far from the parks at all. Maybe 15-20 min depending on traffic.

It's nice to stay in a villa because of the kitchen, private pools and just being able to spread out... instead of staying in a small hotel room..

If you have any questions just ask!!
