Cakes and Napoleons and F&W, oh my! Planning our Disney wedding!! UPDATED 9/15!!!

I'm in! I've read all of your dining reports and I love them! I do cardiac ultrasound (echocardiograms)....I'm sure you've had several with your valve replacement! Did you get a mechanical valve or a tissue valve? Random question....lol. I'm a nerd.:)

Welcome!!! :goodvibes

Oh yes, I've had plenty of those!! I actually had a mitral valve repair, not a replacement, so my valve is still mine, plus an annuloplasty ring. :)

Of all the tips I have learned on the DIS, the banana trick has to be the best! I can't wait to see all the wedding planning.

Hahahaha I'm glad you liked it!!!

I wish I could pack like Wingnut. Sadly, my packing is much more in depth and complicated. Oh the joys of being a girl.

Um, of course the trip has started! ::yes:: Let the food pictures begin!!!!

OMG, you guys are hilarious with the banana writing. But I had no idea that works, and now it just gives me so much ammo.....

Maniacal laugh.....maniacal laugh!

Oh I wish I could too!!! It would make things so easy!

Hahaha I love that it's so easy to do and walk away from, leaving people wondering... :rotfl:

I'm here to join in :goodvibes:

My husband and I were married in Sea Breeze Pointe at the Boardwalk. It was great! It was during food and wine festival.

So excited for your report on the planning trip!:yay:

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here!!!

That's so awesome!!! I'd love to see pictures if you're willing to share some here!!! :goodvibes

A F+W trip with wedding planning??? Um...yes, please! I'm slooowly trying to make my way back onto the Dis after a lengthy absence it feels somewhat daunting, but I was so excited to jump on, scroll down the TR board, and see this! :dance3: Can't wait to hear all about it!

Hahaha welcome!!! Glad to have you along!!!

I'm all caught up and subbing in! Can't wait to hear all the fun details, especially about the wedding planning! :goodvibes

Welcome!!! Thanks!!

ACK I'm so late! :scared:

First moment of vacation is right when I step out the building at work. Always. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about all your wedding plans! :goodvibes

Welcome!!! :goodvibes

I need to start adopting that philosophy, that's even better than my "as soon as we leave the house!!" :thumbsup2

The egg rolls looked good.

I never heard of that with bananas. Now I want to try it. :rotfl2: Write something and freak Vinny out. :rotfl:

They were really good!!

Hahahaha it's a fun trick to try!!

Time for Disney!!!

The next morning, at relatively only a slightly earlier time than we usually wake up every day for work (4:45), we woke up and headed out the door to the airport. I again checked one more time that our flight would be on time (yes), and we were quickly at the airport, through security, and settled in for a little wait before our flight actually left. (Wingnut always likes to get to the airport early and leave lots of time for us to hang out at the gate and eat pastries.)

Just me? Okay, I'm fine with that.

Chocolate croissant. Not bad, actually, but not Disney food yet.

We sat around with the rest of the Disney-bound early birds for a bit until our flight boarded on time, and we were on our way!

I wasted no time getting started on my second pastry of the early morning.

Cranberry muffin. Very moist and crumbly as I quickly discovered, as Wingnut was soon covered in crumbs. :rolleyes1

Then the snack cart rolled around, and why stop snacking when there were free chips to be had??

Wingnut made me look less like an unstoppable eating machine and had something to eat as well.

DF: "Do you want a food review for this? They were animal crackery."

Oh, he's hilarious.

For around 98% of the flight, our view was pretty much all clouds, which then progressed to decreasing clouds as we approached Orlando. This was also accompanied with a fair amount of turbulence, but I was pretty easily distracted by watching the Food Network.

(It really is all about food with me, isn't it?)

And then we started getting closer to Disney!!

We landed on-time, and were soon approaching the first monorail ride of the trip!

Yep, this is clearly a Stringbean&Wingnut report here, DF is sticking out his tongue:

Silly hardiness zones dictating whether or not I can experience palm trees every day or not.

Magical Express: B1!!

Our destination? Port Orleans French Quarter!

We had to wait for a few minutes for our bus to arrive...

...but it soon did, and we were on our way!!!

The "surprise, we're going to Disney" videos still always make me sniffly.

I didn't realize this, but going to POFQ, we didn't pass under the traditional Welcome to Disney arch. This was the Disney greeting sign that we passed.

Not exactly the same triumphant effect as the arch has, but still good!

This was actually our first time being on Magical Express that we weren't the first stop. Our first mini resort tour was Saratoga Springs.

Next, Old Key West.

And then. Drumroll please...

We got off the bus (we were towards the back of the bus already, so DF didn't have other people to be polite for this time around), checked in with no wait, and were quickly on our way to our room in building 7, which was already ready!

(I took more resort photos later, I promise. I didn't feel like wrangling the camera and luggage at that moment!)

Our room:

We did a quick look around the room (no bedbugs, :thumbsup2; but also no hand soap (which, spoiler alert, we didn't get for the rest of the week. Is that normal in a moderate?) :confused3)

Having dropped off our stuff, we turned right back around to head to our first park of the trip (say it with me, EPCOT!!!).

Here are some resort photos!

Why yes, the giant parade float heads did creep me out.

I'll leave you here for now...

(P.S. Have a wonderful and delicious and safe Thanksgiving!!! :goodvibes)

You are making me want to stay at POFQ!! It has been on the top of my list for Mods, but we never end up going there. Did you like going to the other resorts first? I kind of liked seeing some of the other resorts on our way to ours. Made it feel more real or something! I have never seen that entrance, but I have seen another one that looks JUST like the main entrance, but it's not the main entrance. We came that way when we drove. How many entrances are there, do you think?!?!? :confused3 You rock, dropped your stuff and headed right to a park like a true Disney junkie. Can't wait to hear more!

Yippee! You're finally there!

I've never been that interested in staying at the POFQ, but I must say the rooms look pretty nice.

Now let's get to Epcot already!

Great start to your trip :thumbsup2

That Cranberry muffin looks really good :)

I have never stayed at POFQ before. Looks really nice :goodvibes Sorry to hear about no hand soap?

Can't wait to read more :surfweb:

Your first park was EPCOT?! Just kidding! :thumbsup2

Happy First Engaged Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

I love POFQ... but you are right- the parade thingees are creepy.

Happy Thanksgiving!

If there are two things I know will happen in one of your trip reports, those two things are: 1.) You will eat food. 2.) Wingnut will stick out his tongue. :lmao:

Every time I see POFQ pictures I just want to stay there so badly! It's so beautiful, despite the horrendously creepy heads everywhere! :rotfl:

Yes - it really IS all about food, isn't it? Bananas in the last post. Crumbly cranberry muffins in this post. When will it end? :rotfl:

That is the same entrance we had in June. It must be that whole DTD area. Boo!

The POFQ rooms are really pretty. I like! Was building 7 near the water. I love that walkway along the water. So pretty.

EPCOT!!!!!!!!!

We are staying at POFQ for the first time in February and I can't wait!

Epcot is definately my favorite park. I happen to be a Figment fiend as well.

We ride it at least 4 times a trip. :figment:

And I will definately share some wedding pics.

Yay for an update !! Looking forward to Epcot and more creepy parade head thingys.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving to you, too !!

Susan

Wow...two pastries while waiting for the plane. Color me impressed. :thumbsup2 Your room at POFQ looks lovely. I've always been curious about staying there, so I'm looking forward to hearing your overall opinions.

And..of course EPCOT!!!

I think I could have guessed that you would head directly to EPCOT!! :lmao: I think I see a trip through Living with the Land in your future and the blueberry kid!

I completely endorse as many pastries as possible on vacation....sometimes a pancake or waffle cone get in the way but they are mostly sugar too so I suppose I'm stuck in the carbs food groups! ;)

Glad to see Wingnut in fine form (and look, no blue tongue)!! :goodvibes

I'm going to come out of lurk-dom and officially follow your report...Your trips are just wonderful to read about - if fact I'm enjoying reading your 2010 report while listening to the You Tube channel that was linked in one of your updates (you know, the one with all the park music looped - it is just awesome)!

Can't wait for more... Including your wedding (even if it is months away)!

Your photos have me missing POFQ. It's so calm and pretty there (floating heads not withstanding of course).

You got some good snacking in! and now you're headed to Epcot? What a wonderful snack filled day!
