If it were me I'd go with the dessert party - lots of variety and no messy leftovers to deal with! :)

We choose the Desert party to help celebrate our mother and father's anniversary.

Hehe, my sister is 26 and I am 24, so our parents are taking us to Disney, so we wanted to do something special for them, since they are also paying for both our spouses. Mom loves 'Wishes' and dad loves deserts, and I hear they are great!
I would go with the desert party!

I think the Wishes Dessert Party would be a great birthday experience. I went last spring (not for a birthday) and really enjoyed it. I personally would enjoy it over a birthday cake if I were celebrating my birthday at Disney.

We like the dessert party so much, we're hoping to book it again for our October trip!

Our family of 4 did the dessert party and were very disappointed. We have also ordered cakes from Grand Floridian and Boma's and would much prefer getting a cake the way we want it. The viewing for the fireworks was ok, but I would much rather be on Main Street watching them.

My sister and I did the dessert party this past May for her birthday. We are part of the disappointed group - too many people crowding around trays of desserts and it was a crazy atmosphere! All the popular items never got replenished and despite the fantastic fireworks view, I don't think it was worth it for a special occasion. Just my honest opinion.

I'd do the dessert party for something special. I thought the view was great, and the service was wonderful. The only complaint I have from it is the rudeness of other guests, but that is obviously not Disney's fault.

hmm, okay. i think for the price for 2 at the dessert party i could get a fairly nice cake. i'll have to subtly ask dbf how he would feel lol thanks!

From a male point of view, I would much prefer the Dessert Party. Cakes are just that cakes. Could care less if it Haunted Mansion or Donald Duck (my favorites) because in the end it is a cake. I can have a cake anywhere.

We also choose the dessert party to celebrate DS's birthday. I think it's the whole experience vs. cake.

Okay, I'll throw my 2 cents in...I'll be totally different.

Instead of the Dessert party or a cake (BTW, I did for my daughter in Feb) take him Bass Fishing, 2 hr guided. I know it might be alittle more $ than a cake or the dessert party, but we did this in Feb, and we loved it so much we are thinking of doing the 4hr in December.

This is more of a "guy" thing, you can fish in front of the castle or under the monorail. The guide puts your bait on and takes your fish off for you. Can't beat that.

In the book Birnbaum's Guide 2011, there is a coupon for 20% off in the back. If you are staying at a resort with a marina, they will pick you up in a boat and drop you off at the same place.

Drinks are included, soda...

But if he is not a fisherman, forget it and do the dessert party

Just my 2 cents!

I think I'd do the dessert party because it's something unique to Disney vs. a cake, which you could do at home. I've seen some truly amazing cakes on the cake thread but I've also read a number of posts about headaches of ordering and disappointment with the end result so sometimes I see it as more hassle then it's worth. Just my two cents:goodvibes.
