Hello all :)

Perhaps this is a question that Lurkyloo can answer since I THINK she had done this, or others who have already married at Disney.

What does Disney charge to box up slices of cake to give to the guests :cake: ? Do they allow you to do so or not?

OMG - we were just talking about this as a hijack of this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1759093

But, like you, I'm curious to know if they box up individual slices for all the guests, since they told us that even WE couldn't take our leftovers (but then they put it all in the box with our anniversary layer). Hmmm.... :confused3

I'm not sure if they will do this or not, in my contract it states that cake can not be removed from the site except for the anniversary layer, but I have heard of brides taking cake. I would be curious to know that answer as well.

I didn't even consider there would be a charge for this! That is a good question that I will ask at my planning session. I have heard quite a few people taking their leftover cake. I was specifically told that if I wanted any of it I would have to provide small cake boxes and give the cake as favours. She even said no glad containers!

That's exactly what we are doing with our cakes since we go straight from dinner to DP. I don't want our guests to fill up on our cake when there's going to be tons of dessert.
So the agreement is I bring all the boxes and they will box them up and give them to the guests as they are leaving the dinner area to the DP area. The leftover cake will be divided into bigger chunks and I will give them to my family (I'll still be bringing the boxes for these).
No charge.
We just have to make sure to give them the boxes and have someone take the leftover boxes from the dining area.

HTH!

we got all of our cake delivered to our room and gave our guests some of the cake........no extra cost for this.

Was your event in the same hotel you're staying?
Our planner refused to do this because our event is in EPCOT... I have to designate someone to pick them up and deliver them to wherever I need it to.

didn't realise that this made a difference, but yes we were staying in the GF and they took the cake back to the room. We did have to pay extra though for our flowers and the unity candle to be taken back to the room.

That is odd. I asked if we could give the cake away as favors (at the time I thought they didn't let you keep the leftovers), my planner said to stay away from the cake bags/boxes. They were to messy and difficult for the servers to work with. She said to use the small glad containers, and that is what we did. I don't remember seeing any extra costs for this, if there was it was in the cake cutting/handeling fee.

We ran into this too - I'd read about an Atlantic Dancehall reception where they had bell services take the cake, guest book, etc. back to their room at BoardWalk Inn.

But they wouldn't do this for us at the Attic (at BoardWalk Inn) b/c we were staying at the Becah Club and they won't leave the resort. My  inlaws delivered it all to our resort for us after riding our bus for an hour....

I think it would be easier to put the cake in glad containers than in small cake boxes. I don't know if I should buy the cake boxes or glad containers or what.
