Part 16 – Saturday, August 7, 2004 – MGM, Goodbyes, Rest and MK

We had originally planned to have a late breakfast at Chef Mickey’s on this day. But, by the time we got back from AK yesterday, we were tired and Larry and the girls were checking out on Saturday, so we cancelled Chef Mickey’s and made a new PS for Whispering Canyon Cafe for 2pm. Me, Suzanne and the boys went back to MGM fairly early, so that we could ride Rock N Roller Coaster a few more times, and Andrew and Suzanne could ride Tower of Terror. I also really wanted to see if I could find Lilo and Stitch to have my picture taken with them, and the boys really wanted a picture with the aliens from toy story. So we arrived in time to be there as the gate opened. We went straight to RnRC and TOT. We got fast passes for RnRC, and stood in the standby line. While in this line, I again was mistaken for a CM. A women in line asked me questions about her fastpass, which I tried to answer (only she had a FP for Beauty and the Beast which I found out work a little differently than those for rides!) her questions. She finally came to the conclusion that she could not ride RnRC and see Beauty, so then she asked me what was the best way to get out of line. Again I did my best to answer her questions and pretend I was a CM. We rode all of our favorites on that end of MGM and then headed for the Sorcerer’s Hat to check out some pins. On the way there we ran into Rude Family #2. This is were I think the boys really came to appreciate us as Moms. Rude Family #2 was made up of a pre teen daughter and school age son, their mom and ther grandmother. The daughter was whining about what she wanted to do, and the grandmother yelled at her that “She paid for this trip and they were going to do what she wanted to do. The boys looked at us and just got closer to us and silently let us know how much they appreciated the things we do for them. When we got near the hat, I was admiring all the characters out on the plaza area and not watching where I was walking. I totally missed a curb and stumbled and was about to do a major face plant when Andrew stepped in front of me and caught me. This child has an uncanny way of doing things like that! Anyway, I was very grateful he was there to save me that pain and embarrassment. We did some pin shopping, and found out where we could meet Lilo and Stitch and headed there. Once we were in line, I had to go potty , but did not want to leave the line. The handler for the characters told us that they were going to take a short break and We would be the first in line when they came back. So, I was able to do a quick potty run and get back in line just in time to see them come back out. We had so much fun with these characters. The boys took a picture together with them and as they were about to take a picture, Lilo KISSED Chris!!! He turned ten shades of red…it had caught him so “off guard”. Then I took my picture with them and tried really hard to get my hair to match to stand up like Stitch’s fur! Oh well we had to move on to find the aliens. Walked over to Al’s Toy barn only to find out that the aliens rarely make any appearances. So sadly we headed out of the park, stopping along the way to see (and purchase some) of the Disney photos of us with Stitch. We took a bus to Wilderness Lodge for lunch. I fell in love with the décor of this hotel. We waited for Larry and the girls to get there and then headed to WCC. We really enjoyed this meal. MT was a great waitress!!! I loved the orange vanilla milkshakes (and the fact the they were never ending for one price!) Larry and I had the skillet lunch, which was good. Chris declared the peanut butter sandwich to be wonderful, and I don’t remember the other’s meals. We left very full, very happy and very sad and very tired. It had started raining while we were eating, so we got a little wet on the boat ride back to the Contemporary. We took some photos around the Contemporary and looked around the shops, did some pin trading. (Chris decided he wanted to stay here next time…it reminds him of the airport, which he thinks is a good thing!) When we got back to the Poly, it was time to say goodbye to Larry and the girls. I was so surprised when Valerie gave me a hug and told me thanks for all of the planning that I did for the trip (they had been teasing me about this all week!). She said that if it were not for my planning, they would not have done half of what they did during the week. That made me so proud to know that someone appreciated that! We they left, and we headed back to the room in the rain. By this time we had our first really heavy rain of the trip. We rested a little, ate dinner in the lounge, and I decided to rest some more and start on packing because we were leaving tomorrow. Suzanne and the boys decided to go to MK one last time…there won’t be any crowds…no one will stay in the rain! Well when they got back to the room later that night, they said it was PACKED! It was also flooded…they walked through ankle deep water at the entrance by the rain station. But, they had a good time, rain or no rain.

Part 17

Now, see? I could have told you where to find Lilo and Stitch! I love that hidden alcove. The characters really love to play too!

So many people are posting such positive things about WCC, we are going to have to try it. Did you ask for a straw? ;)

Way to go Valerie!! A lot of people don't realize how much time and effort we put into planning our trips! I mean, there are Excel spreadsheets involved and everything! ::yes:: :teacher:
