So, if we can only do one of these, both choices are going to be for lunch, which would you chose and why??
I had chosen these two because I have yet to find a restuarant in DCA that I love, so I thought I would give this a shot. I had chosen Cafe Orleans because I really want to finally try the Monte Cristo sandwich.

Your opinions are much appreciated!:wizard:

Cafe Orleans is okay imho, but really just alright. I liked the pomme frittes, but in general I found it to be a pretty bland experience and not particularly authenic New Orleans cuisine.

We are trying the Trattoria for the first time on our trip next month based on the good reviews I have read here on the boards and the menu as posted on allearsnet.com. It looks like pretty standard Italian fare, but the prices are decent and it's supposed to be pretty too.

This is a toughy since they're both totally different types of food.

I enjoy both, but we have eated at Cafe Orleans more times than we've eating at Wine Country...

I would say try Cafe Orleans this trip and next do Wine Country...

HTH!

Wow, that's a tough one. They are SO different.

The food was good at both, although VERY different. I personally preferred the chicken lasagna I had at WCT over the meal I had at Cafe Orleans, but that's about personal preference, and not quality.

Another big difference was the atmosphere. When we went, WCT was very quiet and laid back, with nice spacing between the tables, where Cafe Orleans was much louder and the waiter was morelaid back and joked with us a lot.

If I had to pick only one to go to again. . . it depends. If I was doing Blue Bayou I would skip Cafe Orleans and go to WCT, but if I was NOT doing Blue Bayou, I might go to Cafe Orleans just for the atmosphere.

I think the WCT is a bit better food wise--with more choices as well. But I always like to eat in Disneyland better, for some reason. Especially dinner--because you can eat right before or after the parade (which is at 6:30).

We have eaten at Cafe Orleans many times, but the Wine Country restaurant only once. The food was very good at the WCT--and the prices were not bad.

I prefer Cafe Orleans. When we ate at the Wine Country Trattoria my daughters meal came 40 minutes after everyone elses!

We ate at the Wine Country Trattoria twice last trip!
It is a really nice break from the parks as it is surprisingly quiet and peaceful in there!
We went for lunch the first time and I had the Capreze sandwich and it was good! I did not leave thinking that I had to come back to have it again though but if I happened to be in the area and was hungry and they had availibility, I would have it again!
I also had a house salad which was okay and they bring bread sticks which I we all found a little hard!
They butter was shaped like flowers though, which impressed my daughter!
We also went for dinner and I didn't find the Roasted Vegetable lasagna that great! I wouldn't order the vegetable lasagna again and therefore, wouldn''t go for dinner due to the limited menu!
My husband said the Lasagna Rustica was okay! The portions are not really large, though, like you find in most italian restaurants!
I really enjoyed the tiramisu though and thought it was nicely priced at $4.99!
For my trip in September, I made a PS in the late afternoon to have dessert and coffee since I enjoyed the atmosphere there and the tiramisu!
Maybe we will enjoy a glass of wine as well!
I would say the biggest problem with the Wine Country Trattoria is it's menu is very limited!
We have never eaten at Cafe Orleans as my children do not like anything on the menu!
However, as I am not bringing them this trip, I have made a PS and am looking really forward to it!
May go twice if the food is as good as everyone reports!

I'd go for the Trattoria. The food at Cafe Orleans is not very "New Orleans'ish" - it's basically salads and sandwiches. Though I will say that the french onion soup and the pommes frites are very good. I haven't had the Monte Cristo there, but I've had Monte Cristos in the past and they just aren't my taste.

I really like the Trattoria, though - that's my favorite "casual" table service restaurant in the parks, and The Vineyard Room is my favorite dinner restaurant.

the monte crisco and pomme fritte are wonderful..but too rich to eat one whole one..so get extra fries..and share:thumbsup2

i can't wait to eat at the WCT...i love the way their salads look and it's so nice to have a chilled moment amongst the busy day.:goodvibes

So we are going to both.. the WCT probably a couple times.. the fries fix will be once...delicious but once.:rotfl:

I haven't been to the Wine Trattetoria. I do like Cafe N.O. I like the monte cristo and pom frits. They had seasoning on them.

The DCA restaurant serves wine. The DL restaurant does not.

This was an easy choice for me. :drinking1
