I know it is VERY far into the distance, but we want to start saving now as we want to have it paid for before reservations are made.

DH and I want to plan to take my parents to WDW in early Dec 2011. My parents have always taken me a plethera of times and May will be the 2nd trip they have taken DH. I am going back to school in the fall for respiratory therapy and will finish in May 2011.

We are planning to take my parents Dec 2011 and hoping (fingers crossed) we will be taking an infant with us:hyper:. (we are waiting to start trying til i'm close to finished with school.

We are thinking of Fort Wilderness cabins b/c the kitchen would be nice if we have an infant with us, and also b/c we are hoping DH parents will decided to go on this trip with us and bring DH bro and his family. They will come in DH parent's motorhome. (am I making since so far) So by us staying at the cabins we will essentially be in the same resort.

My question is this... do you think this will be doable? 4 adults and 1 infants in a cabin? Or should when hope to trade my mom and dad's RCI timeshare into DVC?

Any suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated!!! We have never travel with a big group for one, and we have also never taken a child with us nevermind a baby.

Doable, yes. Comfortable, maybe not so much :)

The bed in the bedroom is full size and the bunk beds are short twins. The murphy bed in the living room is also full size.

Now, if you normally sleep in fulls you won't have much of an issue as long as no one minds sleeping in the living room. But DH and I have a king and we would kill each other in a full.

Needless to say he got the bed in the kitchen (his favorite place) :) and I had the bed in the bedroom.

Worked out perfectly for us since I like to sleep in and he's an early riser.

A cabin would be perfect! It has a double bed with bunks in the separate bedroom and a full size murphy bed in the living room. It is nice to have a bed that stows away during the day to take advantage of the sofa and without having an uncomfortable sofa bed. It is kinda of like having two bedrooms as long as there are no early risers!

You would really like having a kitchen with a little one! Good luck with school and planning your family....and oh yeah! planning your WDW vacation!pixiedust:

Thanks for your responce! We can do half size beds, and we also have a queen seize blow-up mattress we could take with us. What do you think about the kitchen and location of the cabins?

I think the cabins would be fine...we got by in fair enough comfort with two adults, two teens, and two youngsters, and an infant....it was somewhat crowded with THAT many...but not too bad. I think 4 adults and 1 infant would be fine. Another alternative for you guys that may be better, and certainly less expensive than a cabin is camper rental! You should check this website before making any final decisions. It may be the perfect solution for you guys, espcially since it can sleep up to 9 people!!

Their honestly isnt room for a queensized blowup in the cabin. They have perfectly utilized just about every square inch of the floorplan.

Thanks for you help!

I'm not to sure about renting a camper. If we don't do a cabin we'd probubly trade a RCI week into DVC. I'm sure we'd be fine in a double. Most hotel rooms are double and we are fine. I actually have never been able to tell a difference in queen and double sized beds. We have a queen bed here at home.

Have you guys ever been to FW before? If you havent...you really owe it to yourself to at least give it a nice day long visit. Most of the posters on this board would never consider staying at another resort. Its just in a class of its own that no closed up hotel/resort room(regardless of its star rating) could ever compare to. Just food for thought.

Hi
We love the cabins. And really loved it with a small child. The kitchen is great for baby needs, and the separate bedroom is great for naps. And one of you can stay with the baby and others can enjoy the Fort. It is quiet too.

As for the beds. We didn't mind the Murphy or the full size bed but the bunk beds......not great for an adult. I could never stretch my legs out. And they were hard.

I think this would be a great choice for you and your family.

Bigdaddyrog... no we haven't stayed there before, but DH and I planned on exploring the resorts when we go in May. DH really like the look of wilderness for it's rusticness and he loves camping as well. We are going to do hoop dee do so we are planning on going early to check out ft.wilderness before our ressie.

Skyw... I think kitchen would be the selling point for us with a baby as well.

Agreed. The cabins are great. We had two adults, four children and one little one with us and we were comfortable enough. It was a girls trip so one family got the bedroom and the other got the livingroom area. Despite the number of people, it was a very relaxing trip. It was nice to be able to have breakfast in the cabin and not have to haul everyone out to a restaurant or food court. In the evening the kids watched TV together and the mom's enjoyed a little "Disney on Ice" out on the deck. The quietness of a cabin would also work out great for you if you have an infant.

Thanks for the help everyone!

The cabin are looking more and more attractive with every comment made. I know we would really like having the kitchen, in Dec it should be comfortable enough to be outside if wanted at least during the day.

The family I nanny for will stay no where but WL, and they are thinking of trying a cabin this time to have a little more room, and space for the boys to be rambunksious outside if wanted (they are 2 VERY active boys!!!). I'm anxious to hear about their trip. They are going in the fall hoping for free dining.

Any other thoughts?! Feel free to leave them!
