The possibility of bringing my dogs was what had me interested in owning

I’d be careful with that anyway. They’ve been pretty clear that the dog thing could go away at any time. I’m assuming they’re trial ballooning it here. I wouldn’t be surprised if take your dogs to the FW cabins is dead by year five.

Yeah. I was potentially willing to run that risk and just sell if they pulled it, as my family travels down about once or twice a year and my current dogs will turn 9 this year. This may not always be true but for now I can take the pups to AoA or POR for 4ish nights - give or take depending on season - for less than the just the cost of annual dues. If they price me out, there are offsite options, though we’re leaning more and more towards just being Universal people. This is actually fairly far down the list of reasons I’ve been dissatisfied with Disney now and in the recent past, for many reasons well covered by many others across these boards, so really their choices with this just made the decision easy for me.

There is already a cabin loop, maybe two, designated as dog friendly, and the campgrounds also allow dogs. So it seems to me they’ll just be keepin’ on with current operations.

We aren't DVC owners (yet) and this would not probably be where I would buy... but I've always been interested in staying in Ft. Wilderness and the new murphy bed ups the appeal. It would be good option if we traveled with some extended family.

If people bought direct a CFW would they be able to use those point at all other DVC properties (at 7 months)? Or is that still unknown?

I'm also wondering if it actually going to be considered "deluxe" would that give it deluxe resort perks like extended evening hours?

The email they sent today said "At this deluxe villa resort you can enjoy extended evening hours..." so it will no longer be considered a moderate resort once the new cabins open. Yes, you can use direct points purchased at CFW to stay at any of the DVC resorts in the 7-month booking window (depending on availability).

Do any of the RTU trust timeshares spread their annual dues across all their RTU resorts? Basically, my fear is they lump these high dues in with other resorts…maybe even the Poly tower.

Cabins point charts being so low and Poly tower being so high, it combining them would make trust dues lower. I suspect many Poly tower buyers wouldn’t be thrilled though. We wouldn’t touch the trust if the go this route because we would be afraid of future high dues resorts being added whenever Disney wants the trust buyers to pay more.

What needs to happen is that these dogs need to get up off their couch, bed, recliner, ect. and get a job. Help pay their way at the cabins.

I’m really disappointed they’re going to charge a nightly fee, with no upper limit, for owners. The possibility of bringing my dogs was what had me interested in owning. But 30k ish to buy in plus a couple grand in maintenance (that can of course go up each year) plus $210 + tax in pet fees for a week (and of course the pet fees could change at time). The math was already pretty terrible but the money grab fee (when you don’t even get any cleaning service during the stay when you have dogs and they do 0 “extra” cleaning to justify the charge) tips it into forget it territory for me - it’s not comparable at all to what any other pet-friendly hotels or timeshares do for pet charges.

Should I ever wanted to stay at CWF then I would hate if I stayed in a room which had the slightest odor of dog. Or take those that had an allergy for dogs, if they stayed in a unit which was not properly cleaned then that would be on Disney.

Personally I'm glad that the nightly fee to bring a dog is high, I wish it was higher.

If the price ensures a proper cleaning, good, I wouldn't expect anything less.

Personally I'm glad that the nightly fee to bring a dog is high, I wish it was higher.

If the price ensures a proper cleaning, good, I wouldn't expect anything less.

No one is forcing you to stay in any of the rooms that allows dogs. You must be fun at parties.

My whole point is the fee doesn’t do anything other than line Disney’s pockets. They don’t clean the rooms during the stay because of the dogs (understandable), but between guests they don’t clean the dog friendly rooms any differently than the non-dog friendly rooms and the cleaning staff doesn’t see a penny of that fee money (source - former housekeeping employees). Most hotels charge a flat fee, which again doesn’t actually change their cleaning practices but it’s more reasonable. Disney’s “nightly” fee isn’t tied to anything other than their own greed. If they were coming to deep clean my room every night, great, but they’re not.

I would’ve attributed the extra fee to increased wear and tear on the unit rather than any kind of special cleaning.

I have yet to own a dog that has caused more wear and tear than a child, especially toddlers.

Long time dog owner here, and I also would not want a doggy-smelling room! Initially got excited about "dog friendly resort", as we have a mini-dog that could fly with us, but I wouldn't want to do that at WDW unless I was planning to do a mostly-resort stay with a lot of outdoor time with the dog. Otherwise it's no fun for the dog anyway.

I've had several dogs in my life ranging from 5 - 125 lbs, and when I've taken them on vacation with me, it's so they have a vacation too. (outdoors, hiking, camping... ) Given the way my kids do Disney, I wouldn't bring my dog because she'd just end up crated all day.

BUT : given the room layout, I could see it being a good space to bring my kids + 2 friends and sticking them in the bedroom, for low point cost. Otherwise we'd be booking a 2br.

I’m not sure that “set aside” is accurate since it suggests those weeks can’t be sold otherwise, and I don’t want those who are new to DVC to get the wrong idea. It’s actually that no more than 35% of any given week can be sold as a FW.
