Cabin Loop request, fax or call or both?

I've been told a few different things by CM's and the Fort itself.

1. Call and they will make a note in the originally res. Tried that and then they said I couldn't, I had to call the fort 14 days before. I haven't tried calling back...yet.

2. Called the Fort and they agreed with the 14 days.

3. Called the Fort and they said call back when it is 3-5 days.

The only place I've seen mention of faxing is here :)

So.....what is the best approach? And when?

I am sure wherever we end up will be fine. We are in a cabin and with the main pool closed I'm less sure that it much matters but am looking at loop 2200 preferably closer to the road end on either side for bus stop access.

In speaking with the Fort they did say that the online check in is coming but they haven't heard dates either so I doubt that will be helpful.

TIA!

I've always called within 5 days when The Fort recieves your ressie from CRO. :thumbsup2

As I understand it, the Fort doesn't receive your reservation information until 4-5 days before your check-in so sending a fax and a follow-up call would be pretty pointless before then.

EDIT: Dad-blurm-it! Deni beat me to the punch again!

Before that 3-5 day window you can call who ever made your original reservation(either CRO if you did it yourself or your travel agent if you used one) and have your request noted. That is the best way to go, that way if you get caught up in packing and other pretrip activities and forget to call/fax the resort directly they will already have your request. When you check in, politely reiterate your request and if you are willing to wait a little longer to get into your cabin if it means you get your request let the CM know that too.

Good info. I booked for Sept. the other day & she said she would make a note that I requested loop 2300. So I should plan On FW not getting this request until the last minute?

When I use to work at Disney CRO, we were told the resort did not get the ressie downloaded to them until the night before. Of course, that was ten years ago so a lot probably has changed since then.

The Fort will get the info when your reservation is downloaded into there system, no reason for them to get is before then since they won't assign you a room until they get your reservation. Even then cabin assignments are not set in stone until you actually check in and get a cabin number(if you check in early and don't get a number then you cabin can actually still change). Before you leave the check in CM they will show you a map of where your cabin is, if you don't like the location ask if they can move you somewhere else(be willing to wait for another cabin if it is important to you)

Sept. has got to be the slowest month of the year at the Fort. The past 2 years it was almost eerie to see so many empty sites and cabins. You should have your pick of whatever you want. :thumbsup2

it sounds like it is worth a call to CRO and then a follow up call to the fort in that 3-5 window and a fax isn't needed if I do that.
