We originally planned to stay at the Contemporary. We are a family of 5 and needed a little space. The CR was full @ our price level so I booked a cabin at Ft. Wilderness(129/nite;Fl Resident). We are only staying 3 nites, and do not plan to see everything since we go every other year or so and have been to WDW bunches of times. The Contemporary was my 1st choice because the location afforded us a quick trip to Magic Kingdom and Epcot. We wont have the car. I have heard FT wilderness is huge. Will we be able to get around w/o a vehicle? I am envisioning a long hike to the Boat that takes us to Magic Kingdom, is this true. Also, how do ya get to other parks, Im assuming bus.? Is it a long ride? 3 nites is short. I'm worried that it would be too short if we are way out in the Wilderness and spending all our time in transport.

Hi! You'll have a great time at FW. The resort is large, but the buses run internally and there are stops at several points by the cabins. You can hop a bus to catch the boat to the MK, and if you are going to Epcot or MGM you will just stay on the bus and ride to TTC. At TTC you can catch the monorail to Epcot, or transfer to a bus to MGM. You won't have any problem figuring out the bus transportation. Have you been to Jeff Spencer's site to check out FW? If not, you should. Go to WDWIG and go to the FW FAQ.

Have a super time, and yell if you have any more questions!

mousehappy,
Jeff Spencer's site is at http://fly.hiwaay.net/~jlspence/faq_fw.htm
His site has a ton of info and some great pictures. Check it out! We stayed a FW a year ago this week and had no problems with the transportation. We took the boat to MK and used the buses for the other parks. We had a car and never used it. We also rented a golf cart to get around FW, the place is HUGE!
Have a great trip :D :D

I have bookmarked the Jeff Spencer site, its great. I'm concerned about the timeliness of the transportation but think we will give it a try.

I would certainly rent the golf cart for getting around FW. Takes out the hassle of the internal transportation and you can leave it down near the marina for a quick boat trip to MK. You than have the monorail to get you to Epcot. For us, we avoided the buses when possible and drove to either MGM or AK. The buses are doable, just seem especially long after a long day at the parks, or when trying to get back for a mid-day break. And by all means, spend some time at FW itself, it really is a neat resort.:)
