I had booked at cat 9d on my preferred deck and location on the Wish. I got an email recently that has a different cabin number, cat 9c but on a different deck than what I chose. This seems odd to me - there was no notification to me of changing the cabin or anything, it just started showing up in emails. Is that normal?? I’m not necessarily complaining since it is a SLIGHT upgrade but it seems odd to do this without any notice or specific communication.

Our room got changed from deck 5 to deck 6 (Magic) this summer. Same category so no upgrade but not a problem. Turns out deck 5 was "reserved" for Covid cases.

Hm maybe they are reserving deck 6 on the Wish for covid.

Not necessarily, you can call customer service and inquire to the change. They usually upgrade to what they believe is an upgrade and usually a more expensive room. I personally sometimes prefer to stay in what I originally booked but would inquire as to any changes made without my authorization. my niece always get the exact same room when she cruises but got upgraded on her last cruise to a MUCH larger room which she did enjoy because she has mobility issues.

When we were moved in November we had no notification, TA had no notification. I just happened to notice when I logged in to check in. I was not a happy camper as their "upgrade" was a definite downgrade in my eyes. I was never able to do anything about it and we disliked our room. It was unfortunate. Sometime a room is taken out of commission for a variety of reasons. They are generally quarantining in place these days that it's odd.

I was curious what they do for Covid these days!
They don't kick them off... they just sequester them to one deck?
Some months ago, they were using certain decks to quarantine guests that tested positive for Covid-19 and to quarantine new crew members, sick crew members, and certain contractors. On the Dream-class ships, they were using deck 2 and part of deck 5 because those two areas were easy to block off.

I don't know if they're still doing any of that. Sometimes, rooms are reassigned for other reasons. There might be a mechanical problem that they won't have fixed in time, there might be problems with life boat capacity and balance, there might be staff problems. Who knows?

If you don't like your new room and if you call Disney, then they might be willing to move you again.

This happened to us on Wish MV. Did you happen to be on Deck 2 originally? We were in an assigned cabin on Deck 2 and were moved up to an Oceanview on Deck 9. The change showed up on the app one day. When we were exploring the ship it looked like most of the Deck 2 cabins were set up for Quarantine. The ones we saw had the small table out in the hall with things on them. Of course this is just a guess why you were moved. I know all the ships were using Deck 2 and parts of another deck for quarantine purposes.

In July on Fantasy, they were quarantining positive crew on deck 2. Most positive guests quarantined in their own cabin or in an empty cabin. I didn't hear of any guests being moved to a specific deck for quarantine. It was all over the map. We stayed in our cabin on deck 9.

I believe it depends on the party involved. If the whole party is quarantining, they can stay in their booked stateroom. If anyone in the party is  not quarantined, then the party is split with those entering quarantine moving to a different stateroom.

Interesting! Thanks!!
