Cabanas at Typhoon Lagoon (Beachcomber Shacks) or Blizzard Beach (Polar Patios) for more than 6 people

I haven't been having much luck finding a solid answer for this, but does anybody know what the real rules are for the Beachcomber Shacks and Polar Patios regarding the max number of people? We're planning a trip of 2 families of 4 (so 8 total people) and between the two families, there's some of us that really need to be able to get out of the sun. While the reviews say there's plenty of options to find shade in either park, as we're also kind of private people, we'll probably be renting either Shacks/Patios or at least the Umbrellas. We kind of want to splurge (and acknowledge that it is a splurge, and is in no way trying to look at it as a good deal) on one of the Shacks. We like the fact that it's a more of a fixed structure than just the umbrellas on the Polar Patios. However, like I mentioned, we have 8 total people. I don't know if we'll be able to do 8 in one of the Beachcomber Shacks. All the information I've been able to find seem like "We added at Blizzard Beach for %xx per person, I assume it's the same at Typhoon Lagoon." I haven't been able to find any concrete reports of people exceeding the 6 person limit at Typhoon Lagoon.

If the 6 person limit is hard and fast at TL, but not at BB, it might sway our decisions on which ones to go to. But with the PPs at BB not being structures, the 'splurge' doesn't seem that much of a 'splurge' over just getting a couple of the umbrellas.

So, does anyone have experience, or can point me to a post that I haven't found yet of somebody else's experience, with having more than 6 people and the Beachcomber Shacks at TL?

Thanks,

The 6 person limit for the Beachcomber Shacks and 4 person limit for the umbrellas are firm. We ended up buying 2 umbrellas once as we had 2 adults and 3 kids! They will only issue the exact number of wrist bands. Another time we rented the Shack, but it is very expensive. Frankly, if you arrive when the door opens, I would just find shade unless you have plenty of extra money.

Typhoon Lagoon has a ton of shade so I don’t think renting anything is really needed. I haven’t been to Blizzard Beach as much so don’t want to definitively say anything about the park but I don’t remember having a problem with the sun there either and I am pale as a ghost so avoid it at all costs.

We’ve done 8 people before (4 adults and 4 kids) and it’s never been a problem for us. At blizzard beach I know that they have at least one (because we upgraded to it) larger cabana that you can rent that has more space and a huge day bed with shade. I forget what they call it but we upgraded to it when we entered the park. The larger cabana is good for I think 8-10 people. You should call Disney and see what your options are if you want to try and book the larger cabana.

When I called Disney to get the price for renting Shack at Typhoon Lagoon, I thought she said what the base price was and then a per-person charge for the number over 6. I didn't pay much attention to that part because I only have 5 going. Probably best to give them a call. They were very helpful when I did about 2 weeks ago.

We haven’t rented a shack at TL but have rented a polar patio at BB several times. We always have 8-10 people. It’s a base price for 6 and the a per person charge up to a max of ten.

I rented a cabana at Typhoon this past April for 8 people. When I reserved it on the phone I mentioned I had 8 the cast member said I’ll put you down for 6 and let them know when you arrive you have 8 and they will just charge you for the 2 extra the day of. Otherwise I think we would have had to reserve 2 cabanas. When we arrived at TL that morning it was totally fine to add and pay for the two extra people in the cabana.

Thanks all and especially your first hand experience Megan. I'll recommend to the group then that we stick with our plans for the shacks at TL.

Hmm, ok, seems like this might have actually been a moot question after all anyways. According to the posted hours, now that they're up, TL will be closed the week before Labour Day, which is when we had planned to go. I guess our only option is the one at BB then. Looks like the last day TL is open is Aug 25th, just before we arrive.

I *thought* my daughter was going to Glow Nights at TL on August 29? Perhaps re-check the Disney calendar?

Yeah, it was the 29th we were looking at. It has hours for the Glow Night, but shows 'closed'. I figured maybe that was just because of the glow night. But looking forwards and backwards through the calendar, it shows the last regular hours as being the 25th. Unless for some reason they've updated all the other park hours except that one?

I'm trying to remember which park we were at... I think it was BB? But we had 10 people in a cabana (6 adults and 4 kids) and nobody cared. This was Easter week of 2017. Just tip your waiter well!

ETA: It was BB my sister confirmed

Ok, don't know what was going on yesterday, but today, now TL shows open hours right through the end of our trip, so yeah! Cabana's back on!

We've rented both Polar Patios and Beach Comber Shacks. While Blizzard Beach is my favorite out of the two parks, We like the Beach Comber shacks just a little bit better. The PP's are really in shaded areas anyway and felt a little more private to me, but the umbrella doesn't do much when that late afternoon summer storm hits.

Ok, so just booked the Cabana. The CM mentioned that if we're booking more than 6, he would have had to book 2 cabanas, but then right in the rules as he was reading them out, it stated that the Cabanas have seating for 6. They're allowed up to 4 extra guest for a max capacity of 10, and that you pay for extra guests at checkin. So, pretty much stated the rules consistent with what others have reported here for me. Thanks again for ya'lls help.

How much per person was the extra charge as we will have an extra child. Thanks
