Hi all, headed to WDW in October.

I am thinking seriously about splurging and renting a cabana at Typhoon Lagoon since we are planning on spending a day there.

Is it worth or should I splurge on something else?

Up to you the water parks shouldn't be massively crowded in October as it's not as hot as the sun outside.

I'd rather spend it on something like the Halloween party or a nice diner for two rather than a cabana

We just booked one in just over a week. It was surprisingly not that pricey for Disney. I think we are going around cabana "value" time because the total came to $240, which is less than I read it was going to cost. My brother and his girlfriend will be joining us on our waterpark day, so it only came to $120 per couple.
Our reasoning behind getting one...
- It seems like a more central location rather than going back to the crowded entrance area where the lockers are every time we want a... towel, check phone, get money, etc.
- Comes with towels, so we don't have to bring any with us or rent them.
- Comes with water bottles (this is always a big thing for me) that can be kept cold.
- Comes with drink mugs (we've never had this but my husband is excited ) lol
- The attendant will get food for us. I LOVE this. We can place our order, hit the wave pool, and return to the cabana once our food arrives. No having to head back to our locker to dry off, get a cover up, waiting in line for food, finding a table, etc.

It seems worth it to us, especially since we're the type to be somewhere all day and get the most out of our day. This time around, we have dinner reservations at 6:30 so we'll have to leave the water park before it closes. I especially like not having to waste time on food lines in this instance - even if it's just to get an ice cream or something. We can make the most out of that awesome wave pool. Hopefully we like the experience but we shall see!

Im going soon and I rented one for our TL day, I'll let you know what I think. There is plenty to splurge on instead too though. I probably wouldnt choose Cabana if it meant giving up the halloween party. But I am really looking forward to it too! I was surprised when it was under $250 as well, I was expecting closer to 400 based on what I had read here. So for the water, towels, mugs, and a waiter I think it is worth it to us... we have little kids too so having a secure home base is a very good thing. I dont want to lug our stuff around.

We are doing the Halloween party and have a few ADRs

Really? $250? I thought it was more too...

I thought it was more than $250-- I would totally be willing to pay that.

We are doing MNSSHP and quite a few ADRs that have already been budgeted for so adding the cabana would be on top of those things...

I have a almost 5 year old and an 11 month old at the time of the trip. The convenience factor is a big reason why hubby wants to reserve one. If the 11 month old wants to nap while the 5 year old plays we can take turn spending time with our first DD while the other hangs out under the cabana with a cocktail. :) Let me know how it is kcpinwdw!

We just booked one in just over a week.

Do you call the waterpark to reserve it in advance, or can you do it online? I am thinking with three kids, including a 9 month old, this would be perfect for us.

It's the "WDW PLAY" number :thumbsup2

There used to be an option to rent lounges and an umbrella in a private area that was like $40. Not sure if they do this still but we loved this option. We rented 4 lounges with two umbrellas and asked that they be next to each other. $80 well spent and was in a quiet little tucked away area that was roped off from everyone else. Just an idea....

I might call about this today. We go in November, but DH is a red head, and doesn't tolerate long periods in the sun. Whereas, my DD and I could be out all day. I just wonder if it will be warm enough. Anyone know how quickly these book up? Would I be taking a huge gamble waiting until mid-October to call and book??

If you can afford the splurge go for it. We usually visit in the value months but love to pamper ourselves with this little indulgence. We love having the wonderful cast member to wait on us, nice little treat. And we love that we have a guaranteed spot out of the sun regardless of when we arrive at the park. The cast members that wait on you are great, take time to get to know them. Surprisingly we have been lucky enough to have the same one several times at TL, so we look forward to seeing her each trip. One tip...if you want to tip them they cannot officially accept it. But you can leave a tip in the private cooler that is in your cabana. We don't normally have people to wait on us and make us feel "special" it's kinda fun to live like the other half for one day

We have done this twice, will do it again next year. We go at peak time (Easter week), we love it. One of the other benefits, besides the ones listed above, is that it has a locker with a key. Love being able to store my camera and our phones. Unfortunately, we are now spoiled.

How about an update kcpinwdw? Since it is still so warm, I'm thinking I may need to rent one to get DH out of the sun for a while.

How about an update kcpinwdw?

We ended up cancelling the night before due to Hurricane Erika. Of course despite the forecast it turned out to be a surprisingly lovely day but we didn't go to TL, we had breakfast at Cape May then just moved over to the Poly, checked in, and enjoyed their pool. Hopefully someone else can help with their experience! I will probably reserve one again for next sept, now that I know how easy it was to cancel. Of course, though, my kids LOVED the poly pool and may not even want to go to TL.

Would renting an umbrella and two beach chairs make sense for a trip in May? We are planning on doing one day at each Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Would be May 23-28.

Thank you for the update! So sorry you had to cancel, but hearing your kids loved the Poly pool is a great! I'm glad things worked out! We are waitlisted via DVC for Poly, but with 12 days to go, I don't think it is going to happen. We will still have an awesome time at AKL - Kidani! I think I have talked myself into renting the umbrellas with chairs, for two different days at TL. I just talked to hubby at lunch, and he said whatever dear. He's in that "just make her happy so she will quit texting me at work" phase. I could tell from the tone of his voice, lol. I've never been so neurotic about planning a trip to WDW before. Usually once I make FP's I'm done. Don't change things. Here I am changing things up like crazy.
