BYO Stuff on Castaway Cay?

I was reading my Passporter and saw that it is recommended to leave early for Castaway Cay if you want a lounge chair, that it can get very crowded. I was wondering if it gets crowded enough that we should bring a blanket and our own sun umbrella with us from home? We tend not to be early risers, and are cruising during Spring Break. Has anyone done this, or has seen it done before?

When we went in July we didn't get up really early to get to the beach. I am thinking we got to the beach 10 or 1030. It seems like I got one lounge chair and one more upright beach chair for us. There were still others available, but I knew the kids wouldn't be sitting at all. I think that further down the family beach it was less crowded. I didn't make it to the adult beach so I can't help you there.

Initially you will think all of the chairs are taken, but if you walk further down the family beach you will find some. The PRIME spots are gone first, but it didn't matter to me.

I went in July and it was really crowded. But I think they have enough lounge chairs, too.
Actually, between the snorkeling and lunch and the fact that the water is so wonderful, there isn't a lot of time to sit in that chair! Castaway cay is the whole reason I am taking another cruise!!!

My DH and some friends go up early and go us chairs, then we wifes and kids joined them a little later. We did not have an umbrella, but there are a lot of trees to set camp under. You may want to bring a blanket, but I would not suggest an umbrella (that would just be one more thing to pack).

Lots of room at Serenity Bay - no crowds at all when we were there in November. My DH and I went to the Family Beach early in the afternoon and turned right around and went back to our quiet and very empty beach on the other side of the island.
