Bye-bye Tapestry of Dreams. And I sorta get to "be" there (added pics from Oct 01)

Talk about a great friend. One of the CM friends I have at WDW just called -- the very last Tapestry of Dreams just started -- the Dreamseekers are talking right now and it's going into the "Dream dream dream" part of the music opening. He's giving me a play-by-play and I can hear it over the phone.

I'm going to miss this parade.

going to miss this parade. I saw it so many times, I love the music, the costumes, the percussion. I think I have all the pins, too. It was a magnificent parade, I hope there will be something to replace it one day.

We only got to see ToD twice -- we'd intended to return to WDW during the 100 YoM celebration, but never made it back after the first month. But at least we got to see it, and I've got it on video.

I just got home from WDW. I got to see both the 6:10 and the 7:45 parade and I had my cell phone out to let a friend listen to the last parade. One of the parade cast members came over and asked for the name of the person on the other end and said hello and called them by name.

All the cast members were really having a great time. The crowds for both parades were very large!! Lot of former cast members that were either close friends of those in the parade or had been in the parade themselves in the past. Lots of tears but also lots and lots of cheers. Signs everywhere wishing them and the parade farewell.

I'm very glad that I got to see this tonight. I know at least a few other DISers that did too. I saw Debi (mod from the Resort Board) earlier in the day and she said that she was there to see the send off. After the last parade I spotted Zurgswife, followed by Zurgs family and then Zurg. It was so funny to see him as I had thought about him earlier in the day when I say some really bad shoes and wished that I had my camera with me.

Well, sorry for the length of my post but I still feel like I'm letting go of the parade and I'm having a hard time doing that.

Thanks for that report, Bob. It sure sounded like they were getting a great "goodbye" from the crowd. Huge cheers from everyone nearby. I wish I could have been there in person, but I'm really glad my friend thought of calling me so I could be there in spirit at least.

It was my favorite wdw parade. I will miss it. I'm glad I have the music on cd.

I had heard that the CM's from the many months of parades who came back to do them this and last week got little souvenirs--pieces of the puppet fabric with the parade dates on it. A nice touch for sure.

Sounds great, Bob, thanks for letting us know how the final went. And yes, the music is the best.

Thanks so much for that description of the final parades, Bob. Tapestry (Nations and Dreams) was always our favorite parade even before our DD became a CM and a Sprite. We so wish we could have been there tonight to bid it a fond farewell! We will certainly miss that parade!! There was such a special comraderie among the parade CM's--every night you'd find a group of off-duty puppeteers watching and cheering on their CM friends. I'm sure tonight was very sad and nostalgic for them. I'm not sure there will ever be another Disney parade with the special mystique of Tapestry.
