Mom wants to call me in "sick" for school for about two- three days (Jan. 3 and 4, possibly 5) so we can stay with our granparents longer. We were considering taking them to a park, depending on the crowds.

What day do the crowds start to get noticeably less? Thanks!!

We were there in Jan 2005 and it was empty when we got there on the Wednesday after New Years. You should do a poll asking when the schools are back in session. FYI, our school district starts back on Jan 9th, but I think alot of schools are back on Jan 2nd.

Dh and I were there Jan 24 - 30 so this may not help, but it was only crowded on the weekend, and that was at MK. Made the mistake of going to MK on Saturday. Thurs morning we were at Studios and rode RnRC all by ourselves! Got off and walked back around and got right back on! I think we will go in January again this next year before our AP's expire...
So in answer to your question, during the week days it will probably be uncrowded...

We want to go on January 3 as well -- I know that the marathon is that following weekend but I did a search and I don't think that drives crowds up that much. We dont go back to school until the 9th either (Chicago) but I am hoping that most schools go back right after the new year. I would be curious if anyone has any other insights on timing.

Thanks.

Broward county(Ft Lauderdale area) and Miami schools-go back Jan 3.
Palm Beach goes back Jan 9
Osceola County closest area to Disney go back Jan 3 also

We've always gone the week after New Years and its always been slow. Usually beautiful weather too.

The crowds will start to go home Sunday, Jan 1. We went a few years ago on New Years Day, and it was OK. Our school starts back Jan 3.

We will be in WDW Dec 31-Jan 7. At first I assumed that it would be quiet but now that so many school districts in the US and Canada don't go back until Jan 9th now I'm not so sure. With school starting so late back I feel that many families will be taking advantage of the value season resort rates at WDW. I know I will be.

We always go the last week in Jan/Feb first week. Our school has a winter break then. We have always walked on to most rides, and kept our fast passes for souveniers. Saturdays seem to be the busiest, especially in MK and especially at night, because they cut down on the showing of the parades because attendance is so low traditionally. :goodvibes

We also don't start back 'til Jan. 9th this school year. We're wondering why break is so darn long??? :confused3
