Any trip that begins at the airport without DW's (me) drivers license, and so we two miss the plane had better have some good parts coming because the start wasn't so great. Actually the night before I found out that I had to be on medication with instructions "to avoid sunlight, natural or artificial" so that did away with the Blizzard Beach plans for Friday. Then, on the day we're leaving, yesterday, we packed, used Disney's airport check in at the BWV, and returned to the room for just a small break before we go to AK, only to realize that I packed our AP's!

That was it for the bad stuff, well, there wasn't any coffee in our studio, that's OK I pack some.

There were 9 of us. On points we had 1 studio for 3 nights and 1 studio and a 2 bedroom for the 2 nights of the official party for my DAunt Eleanor! All rooms were excellent and we were together, all on the 2nd floor. We used valet parking all of the time, it's great.

Two of the rooms had the new type of sofa bed, and only my DSis tried it and loved it. She told me to mention on the Dis that it was great and she had 3 great nights sleep.

DH and I had a studio and I used the "public" laundry and of course, I cleaned the lint filter in the drier before using it, and guess what! Someone left a tip of about 23 cents, stuck in with the lint, Thanks!

There were so many highlights. DH and I were off site for Friday and Saturday, so we did get to see Three Dog Night's concert on Friday night and it was great. We walked to Epcot after a delicious meal, the clambake, in Cape May Cafe. DH didn't used to like this, but his tastes have changed and it's something we try to do each visit.

Saturday morning we met at Epcot to do Soarin. DAunt (80) was the Birthday Girl. Saturday was the date, and she wore her button all weekend. CM's in all parks and special greeters gave us lots of attention, "Citizens of the World" buttons, and some of us were on Soarin when they gave away the passes that were good for all of the fastpass rides in Epcot.

On Sunday we had lunch in Italy, delicious meal and DCuz had ordered a birthday cake. The cake was chocolatey, soft mousse and cake, with gonodlas as decorations and it was absolutely wonderful. Afterwards we went to get the family picture at Epcot with the Disney Visa card. 2 of us were able to get the picture free, a promotion for the Disney Visa Card, and together we bought about 5 other ones. While we were in Innoventions I, DSis and DCuz did the Segway demonstration. This is a great way to try the Segway, and yes, we are now looking forward to signing up for a Segway tour of the World Showcase someday.

Monday morning, DH took DUnk (86) to the Magic Behind the Steam Train Tour which was fabulous. DUnk loved it, and said of all his vacations this was the single best thing he's ever done. It's great for train buffs and ordinary people alike. The Birthday meal that I had planned was before MNSSHP on Monday at Liberty Tree Tavern. What a blast, and delicious food. Then we all had a surprise, a birthday cake compliments of Disney with a great Mickey Birthday Christmas ornament on it.

This morning I sent off 3 letters to Disney Relations. I got a card at Guest Relations with the address, specifically to thank 3 CM who went out of their way to make our vacation wonderful.

One was the person at the BWV who gave DH and I complimentary passes for yesterday so we could enjoy the AK before our trip home. This was because of those AP's that I had packed and were in our suitcases.

I cannot end without mentioning The Four Tops' concert on Sunday. It was absolutely the best! I thought Three Dog Night's was good, but this one had me clapping and smiling for hours!! Oh, the Good ole' days!!!!...and the ones still to come. As an extended family we are blessed.

If people read this and want to, please say a prayer for my DMom(86). She had a great great time, and today she's getting a knee replacement operation in Phila. We had a wheelchair for her, but most of the time my DSis was pushing an empty wheelchair, mom wants to walk, and is determined to come through this operation with the same results as when the other knee was replaced 2 years ago. I think she really wanted the wheelchair to sit in to watch Hallowishes!!! :)

PS. Really, I was so surprised, but I don't know why, that I, we all, just loved the BWV stay. People here know that VWL is my soul match when it comes to themeing. I did get hurt walking down the steps at BWV last year when I tried to avoid a long walk to the bus. But there's no getting around the fact that the Boardwalk is a fun place to be and sooo convenient to Epcot, either by walking or boatride. 7 of us, including mom, enjoyed Jellyrolls, our first visit there!

After a shaky start, what a good time you and yours seem to have had Bobbi - lots of highlights.

My DH was also very impressed with the Magic Behind the Steam tour and although he's a real train buff, said I would have enjoyed it too.

Sounds like the birthday aunt had a birthday to remember pixiedust: Thanks for sharing and good wishes to your mother for a speedy recovery :)

Hi Pootle!

I've done the Magic Behind the Steam Train tour a few years ago, with DH and DMom. DH is one who would like to work in WDW doing something with trains, and he's always glad to go again!

Thank you for your wishes!

Bobbi :)

Gee, that sounds vaguely familiar somehow. ;)

And we have exactly the same opinion of BWV, which is why our second contract is there. It is a lot of fun, and so different than VWL and we enjoy each for its own charm and experience.

Prayers for your mother, and thanks for the report. :)

I can TOTALLY relate - OKW is my home, but the BW is the BEST!!! Jellyrolls, the closeness of Epcot and MGM, Jellyrolls, the theming, Jellyrolls...I think you get the picture!! :lmao:

Glad things got better ! Thanks for the report and best wishes and prayers going out to your mom. If she's having the surgery down in the city of Phila, she's most likely in very good hands. Great hospitals in Philly. Hope she has a full and quick recovery !
Take care,

Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes for mom. Operation went fine, now is the hard part, the rehabilitation, so continue, please.

glad to hear all is still ship-shape @ the BWV...we too think alike on our choice of "homes"...WL still has the edge for us but, luv the BW too.

Wow, what a start to a vacation! I love Cape May's clambake, DH not so much. I have always meant to go have that picture taken in Epcot with the disney visa but always seem to forget when we there.

Prayers for your mom!!

Sounds like a good time was had by all...in spite of a few bumps along the way! Thanks for the report and best wishes for your mother. :goodvibes

Glad to hear it all worked out. We loved the BWV's so much, we came home and added-on there. :teeth:

Great report... Glad things got better after you're lift-off. I think you were really concerned about this venture, a while back, So, so glad it turned out great. :thumbsup2

Bobbi....

Thanks soooo much for sharing. What a wonderful family vacation had by all.
Been hearing a lot about that train tour...maybe I'll schedule it for my solo trip in May.

My most cherished memories are those when taking my mom on multiple trips,:cloud9: even doing her favorite, Small World, six times a day!! :crazy2: My regret...not taking her more and I certainly miss having quality time with her.....sharing the "Magic". Savor EVERY moment! ;)

My prayers are with YOU and family during mom's recoup.

We only did Small World once,... 6 times, you are especially nice! :goodvibes
Yes, sign up for the Magic Behind the Steam Train Tour. I think that 20 is the limit as far as participants and you get to hear a lot of stories and see things that are pretty amazing. It's a real connection to Walt.

Mom is scheduled to be transfered to a rehab center today. Thank you for your prayers.

Bobbi

PS. I'm not sure that I mentioned it, but I did find my license, it was in my bookbag, at home, and there was a reason it was there. Not a good reason, of course. Thank DH for really helping not blaming.

My personal opinion is that BWV is the best of all----the CM's are great, the lobby the prettiest (I like its Christmas decorations better than WL's). So now you know the real DVC secret....

Glad your trip was so wonderful. Really glad you DH is such a nice guy too! I'm sure it was Stitch who played hooky with your DL... :rolleyes1

PS. How did the birthday cake get ordered? Directly from the restaurant? It sounds fabulous.

Yes, the chocolate cake decorated with gondolas was ordered directly from Alfredos. DCuz ordered it, I have no idea of cost, but it tasted delicious and served the 9 of us generously with just a bit left to take back.

I like the idea of ordering a cake from a restaurant, I intend to surprise a friend when we eat at LeCellier in December. MS gave me the phone number to call LeCellier direct.

I feel the same about my dd!! She was a delayed talker. She didn't even BABBLE until after she turned two. We were in the middle of having her tested for autism, when she began speaking full sentences :confused3 . But, she was in speech therapy for 6 months before she started speaking. As a result, she was a little "mime". My absolute FAVORITE memories of her where when we took her to DL before she was two. As we went thru IASWAA, she stood up in the boat (shhh...don't tell anyone) and began mimicking the movements of the dolls that caught her attention...it was her way of communicating...and, it was precious!! We rode IASWAA EIGHT times that day, each time we got off she would point to the ride and start to cry until we got back in line. She mimicked every doll she could see for most of the day!! The best thing...I was smart enough to video the experience!!

Who knew how quickly she'd learn to tell me "No!!" ;) Now, I cherish that video as "My sweet little girl"....the girl before she started talking back to me!! :goodvibes

But, eight times.....yikes!!!
