BWV Trip Report with Pictures - My Son Marched in Magic Kingdom!

We just returned from an awesome trip to DW. We stayed at BWV and my son marched with his high school band in MK. It was one of our best trips ever. BWV is now my favorite DW resort. We also lucked out and got 6 free airplane tickets.

When we started our vacation I was coming off a high stress but great life. When my vacation started I had to constantly tell myself to relax and not be so uptight. After a few days of Disney Magic I was really able to get rid of my stress and enjoy myself and my family.

I will write more soon but for now I am totally exhausted, depressed, and have to go to a meeting in a little bit. I have 3 evening meetings this week and other obligations which I am thankful for. Life is really hitting me like a whirlwind now so I will return here and there with info on our trip.

Oh man did we love BWV. Wouldn't it be nice to live there!!! Talk to you soon!

One more thing. We saw Wyland in person at Boardwalk and a lady raised her hand and offered $54,000 for a painting. She lifted her hand with less restraint then I use then when I buy a loaf of bread. Unreal!

I know what you mean about high stress!! I have calculated that it takes me 2 days to de-stress at WDW. On my 2nd morning on the balcony with my coffee is when I am home!

I agree! It took me two days two. I kept having to tell my self to relax. But after two days I didn't have to tell myself anymore! Disney Magic!!!

Thanks! Well tonight's meeting went very well. I am blessed to work with a great group of people. I know the rest of the week will go well too. Thanks for your concern.

But on my drive home I was day dreaming about what I would be doing if I could actually live or at least spend time at BWV on a long term basis. Actually in my retirement I plan on spending a month at Disney every winter. Hopefully this will be a reality. Anyways this is what I what I would do if I was there right now.

I would take a nice walk around the lake while the fireworks went off at Epcot. Then I would get a cup of coffee and casually people watch. After retiring to the room I would watch TV for a little bit and turn in for the night.

Sounds simple but it really is so relaxing.

I won't bore you anymore with my dream but post another photo of my son marching down Main Street USA before I turn in for the night. Good night everyone!

What great pictures of your son marching on Main Street. I pray that your week is nice to you as you adjust back to reality. Coming home from vacation is never easy, but coming home to a busy week is even rougher. I'm enjoying the report so far - and yes, we LOVE the BWV. It is just so fun there.

We arrived around midnight and we asked for a room close to the lobby. We were assigned room 1099, which is studio, and although the view was nothing to speak about we were just steps to the pool and close to the lobby and boardwalk. We were on ground level and I was a little worried about a snake making its way onto the patio and sure enough my kids spotted a snake on the patio the first day. We made sure to keep the door tightly closed.

There were 4 of us in the room and we were very comfortable. The kids were very well behaved which made a difference. I would be comfortable in a studio as long as everyone was considerate of each other and thankfully everyone was.

We planned a relatively relaxed trip. On the first day we went swimming, walked around, enjoyed a bonfire, and went to see a movie on the Beach Club beach. We saw Lilo and Stitch. I am not a big Stitch fan but it was funny and we cracked up alot.

The first day was simple, uneventful, and just what the doctor ordered. I will post a few pictures.

Nothing like toasted marshmallows on the beach even when sprinkled with crunchy sand. lol

What a great backdrop for a movie! Oh I wish I could go see movies there more often. Much better than a drive-in theater.

nickspace, that must have been so awesome to see your son marching at WDW. DS was in marching band in HS, never marched at WDW; but whenever I see a band marching on Main Street, I get choked up and teary-eyed. I just can't imagine the excitement for the parents!

On Tuesday we went to Typhoon Lagoon for the day. Water parks are not may favorite but I did it for the kids. Our first stop was the Shark Reef which was fun followed by the water roller coaster. Then we went to the wave pool which is always awesome. No matter how many time you experience it the sight of that wall of water coming in your direction is awesome. I just get worried about all those bodies getting hurled everywhere. I talked to a lifeguard about it and she told me that she has seen many people get hurt. At one point there were some kids throwing each other in the waves and the police came and talked to one of the kids. The lifeguards watch that attraction like hawks and they will not let another wave come unless everyone is obeying the rules. Those few kids who were not following the rules cost many people precious lost time in the wave pool waiting for the lifeguards to clear the next wave. Afterwards wer went on a few slides and hit the lazy river.

When we returned home we ordered a pizza from Flippers which was good but delivered cold. I called them and they brought us another pizza. This one was nice and hot. They didn't argue at all and stood behind their product. I think they know that with forums like this bad service will catch up with them. Flippers now has my recommendation because of their good service.

After dinner we walked around the Boardwalk and went to see another movie on the Beach Club beach. We saw Cars which was fun. After the movie we walked around some more and went to bed.

My wife arrived around midnight to join the family for the rest of the trip. She is a teacher and could not get the full week off. We were really worried about her because she flew in the same night all those tornados were touching down. Her flight was rerouted but she made it.

I don't have any pictures from Typhoon Lagoon but will post some random pictures.

Enjoying a Beach movie! Much better than a drive-in movie and free drink refills just a few steps away.

Maybe we should add on at Disney's Boardwalk? What do you think?

We rented Surrey Bikes at the Boardwalk and rode around the lake. Then we rented Surrey Bikes ay WL and biked to the stables. BW was crowded and we were always riding around people. Nobody moves when you ring the bell. Its like they don't even hear it. The trail to the stables was secluded and we had the whole trail to ourselves.

On Wednesday we slept in.... ahhhhh... and went to Downtown Disney. We started at the West End and worked our way back. We ended up at Earl's for lunch which was great except for the Chicken Noodle Soup which was fair to poor.

Then we returned to BWV and went to Welcome Home Wednesday where I was chosen to play the game show. It was fun and all the contestant received nice prizes. I am the one on the end next to Dee Vee Cee. It was cheesy but fun.

For dinner we ate at Il Mulino at the Swan. They start off the meal with an excellent eggplant spread and bread. I ordered Arincinis which are essentially fried Italian rice balls. They were really spicy and ok. My grandmother used to make them and I liked hers much better. We also ordered Chicken Parm and Fettucini Alfredo. It was also ok. The chicken was very heavy and set in your stomach like a brick. I prefer lighter tasting Italian food. Hot spices should be added if you like or indicated as hot on the menu. For dessert we had chocolate cake and ice cream. The slice was very tiny with two tiny tablespoon size potions of ice cream on each side of the cake. The meal was fine but nothing to speak about. We used a gift certificate we bought at restaurant.com but it was still not worth the money. I liked my sandwich at Earl's much better.
