BWV Standard View @ 7 months (Christmas)

We are back from our BWV getaway (first time there), and as expected, DH now wants to try to switch our AKV two bedroom room to one at BWV at the seven month mark. He loved the location and thinks our teenagers will too.

While we enjoyed a few nights in a one bedroom Boardwalk View, I don't need to use those kind of points for a view over the holidays.

So what are you thoughts on difficulty of getting a 2 bedroom standard at the seven month mark for say 12/22 to 12/27?

Very low chances.
2BR is the room category that usually books 1st, then studio, then 1BR.(you have a better shot at a 1BR)
Plus BWV standard usually books well before Lake/pool view.

December, in general is a very busy month for DVC bookings, too.

But there's nothing wrong in hoping for magic . Try and get on a wait list.

Standard views are tough to get at 7 months and at Christmas I would expect them to be even tougher. Wish I had better news.

Several nights are already unavailable over that period. In fact, no 2B view at BWV is available for all of those consecutive dates. All views have some nights which are fully booked now--10+ months prior to arrival.

I booked a 2br for 1/1-1/7 at 11 months. We couldn't get the standard view and had waitlist the 1st, pool view.
It may open up as out gets closer, someone said people sometimes get rooms even though their plans aren't certain and then cancel when it's closer.

Eh, then we'll waitlist it, and if we get "stuck" at AKV with three bathrooms for four us, we'll just have to live with it.

For Christmas week 2012, you could have gotten OKW except GVs (but not anything except 1BRs around HH), SSR except treehouses, and AKV savanna or standard view studios, 1BRs and 2BRs for the entire week at 7 months out. Likewise you could have gotten 1BRs at VWL, BCV and BWV pool/garden. Moreover, you faced risk of not getting some of those unless you reserved on line at exactly 8 a.m. 7 months out (in other words if you are thinking of calling to make the change at 9 a.m. eastern you face a higher risk of missing your target). Everything else everywhere at WDW DVC resorts had days already full making waitlist the option.

We got a 2 bedroom garden/pool view over Thanksgiving Weekend 2011. The Standard WL never came through. Christmas is probably a tougher time to book.
